Coach Wall and I played "horse" from half court in the gym and I was in 6th grade. We were always in the gym after lunch on cold days and he was one of the teachers on duty. I lived on a farm and played sports every day with my brothers, so heaving a basketball from half court wasn´t unusual for me, even though I thrilled he would do that with me. I still love sports to this day. He was a special teacher to me and easy to remember after all these years!

He was a down-to-earth gentlelman, a good friend, and a great coach. He will be missed by so very many friends and family. However, he left a great legacy with those friends, family, and teen boys and girls. I'm proud to have been one of his friends.

I remember Jan from high school days. He was much younger and was always hanging around the gym. Years later, my wife's cousin told about playing baseball against Jan, when he played for KansasI State; I also worked with Vicki at the Nebraska Center.

Jan was the best brother-in-law ever. He kept me in stitches with his irreverent sense of humor. An all-around great guy who was loads of fun to be with. They broke the mold . . . . RIP, big guy.

Coach Wall was an extraordinary man. I have always remembered him fondly, even though he gave one of the toughest HS biology exams ever!

What a privilege to have my son learn the basics of golf through Coach Jan. He was kind, patient and thorough in how he spoke to each student-golfer. I remember him fondly and how he communicated the joy of golfing that my son continues to embrace many years later! I pray that his family takes comfort that his legacy continues through my son and many others that he coached along the way.
