Janice Hughes Obituary
November 7, 1938 - September 19, 2025
Janice Lorraine (Owens) Hughes, of Lincoln, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 86.
She was born to Lyle and Evelyn (Schell) Owens on November 7, 1938, Janice was a loving wife, devoted mom, grandma, great grandma (GG), and cherished friend.
Jan married David Elwyn Hughes on June 15, 1957, and together they were blessed with five children: David Hughes (Donna Carnes), Valerie Johnson (Richard), Deanna Hughes, Michelle Hartley (Scott), and Heather Morse (Craig).
Jan was an active member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, where she dedicated her time to various outreach and giving efforts. She volunteered at many charitable organizations reflecting her deep commitment to her community. She worked as a paraprofessional at Hawthorne Elementary for 25 years.
She is survived by her beloved children, along with 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry Owens (Ann); brother-in-law, Art Hughes (Pat); sister-in-law, Nancy (Hughes) Gamber, many nephews, nieces and other loved ones.
A Celebration of life for Jan will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 29th, at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 8300 East Pointe Rd, Lincoln.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church or Alzheimer's Association. The 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's is Sunday, October 5, 2025, and your check will be personally delivered.
