Joan Lofgren Obituary
September 20, 1932 - June 13, 2025
Joan W. Lofgren (Poehler) passed away in the early morning hours on June 13, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on September 20,1932, in Nebraska City, NE, to Florence Poehler (Weber) and Bill Poehler. Joan then met John Lofgren in 1947. The next year, when John entered the military, Joan moved to Lincoln to become a secretary. Upon his return, they were reunited and married on June 10,1953. They had two daughters, Cindy and Connie. Joan and John celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary just 3 days before she passed.
Joan was always quick with a joke (often inappropriate), but most always funny, as well as great stories of her childhood and family memories. She loved her dogs, both past, (of which there have been many), and her present dog, Boone. When Joan wasn't at home, you could usually find her at Warhorse Casino, where she made many friends with whom she enjoyed laughs, lunches and mostly losing money. Most of her life, Joan worked as a legal secretary and she could type almost 130 words per minute.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Florence Poehler and an infant sister. She will be greatly missed by her husband, John; daughters, Cindy Wendelin and Connie Ballew (John); six grandchildren, Brooke Rossman (Clint), Alyson Nutter (Anthony), Ian Osborn (Destiny), Drew Nutter (Darlene), Ashlee and Andrew Osborn; three great-grandchildren, Cole Rossman, Josh Rossman, Violet Osborn and another great-granddaughter to be born in November. She also will be missed by her close friends, many of whom she has known for decades and loved like family.
Joan's viewing is June 17 from 6-7:00 pm at Butherus, Maser & Love at 4040 A St in Lincoln. Her memorial service is June 18 at 10:00 am at First-Plymouth Church 2000 D St Lincoln. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to Nebraska No Kill Canine Rescue. A private family burial will be at Osage Cemetery in Osage Nebraska after the memorial service.
