Marcelle Williams Obituary

Williams -- Marcelle Ruth, 53, Iowa City, Iowa, and formerly of Lincoln, died Wednesday (12/03/03). She passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a battle with breast cancer. Born Sept. 21, 1950, to Jerome and Angela (Cabrera) Christensen. She attended Ruskin High School, received her B.A. in mathematics and education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating summa cum laude. Married, Jerry L. Williams (8/22/70). Worked, 21 years, systems analyst for the state of Nebraska. Since 1991 she had worked as a secretary for the University of Iowa College of Law Library. Active member: Christ the King Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and confirmation classes. Served on the building committee on theCongregational Council and chairwoman of the education committee, usher and member of the Women of ELCA. Enjoyed reading and spending time with her loved ones.

Survivors: husband, Jerry, Iowa City; children, spouses, Sonya and Rustin Miller, Iowa City; son, Blake Williams, Iowa City, his fiancee, Becky Deutmeyer, Dyersville, Iowa; sister, brother-in-law, Alana and Kenneth Stirn, Kearney; brother, sister-in-law, Rick and Gale Garcia, Tahlequah, Okla.; grandchild, Dallas Miller. Preceded in death by parents.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Christ the King Lutheran Church, 325 Mormon Trek, Iowa City. Visitation: with family, 1-2 p.m. Sunday, church.
