Mark DeWitt Obituary

Mark Perry DeWitt

August 26, 1949 - January 5, 2024

Mark Perry DeWitt, 74, of Lincoln, went to be with God on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Service and reception will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial.

Mark was the first of four children born to Hazel Ruth (James) and Mark Albert DeWitt on August 26, 1949 in Hastings, NE. He attended St. Cecilia's Catholic School, and graduated Hastings High in 1967. Mark earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 1972, Mark married Paulette Johnson, and together raised three daughters. Mark worked for the State of Nebraska for over 30 years. He retired in 2015 from the Lincoln Regional Center. Mark enjoyed horse racing, drives and walks, observing the night sky, listening to his eclectic blend of favorite music, having deep talks as well as joking around, and visiting the special places of his past. A self-described "people person," he had a warm greeting and a smile for everyone he met.

Mark was our loving, generous, affectionate, loyal, perceptive, expressive, supportive, gentle-hearted, beloved and one-of-a-kind Dad, Grandpa, and Husband who, above all, was happiest spending time with family.

Survived by wife, Paulette; daughters: Angela, Laura, and Becca DeWitt; son-in-law, Chad White; grandchildren: Noelle and Milo White, all of Lincoln; sister, Mary DeWitt Walter; nieces: Katie DeWitt Hall and Amy Smith; nephew, Michael McDonald, all of Colorado; and many cousins. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Max DeWitt; and sister, Faythe DeWitt McDonald.
