August 9, 1929 - September 3 2022

Max D Biggs, 93, died Saturday, September 3 2022 in Lincoln, NE after a prolonged battle with Covid. Max was born to Leslie and Gladys Biggs in Schubert, NE on August 9, 1929. He was the oldest of four children, all raised in Palmyra, NE. Always a hard worker, Max held many jobs in his youth. The one that made the biggest impact on his life was when he worked on the farm of Elmer Lanning. Elmer had a couple of daughters, but one in particular caught his eye, Carol. On February 14, 1950 they were married.

Max was a graduate of Palmyra High School and attended Nebraska Wesleyan. After college he worked at Northern Natural Gas and then moved on to a career at the State Department of Roads retiring after career of nearly 40 years. Max was an athlete his entire life, excelling in football and basketball in school. In his early 30's he learned to water ski and also started to golf. Golf became his passion and he passed this passion on to his sons, some of his grandchildren and now to some of his great-grandchildren.

Max is survived by his wife Carol, sons Bill (Marla), Jim (Nancy), Chuck (Deb), Dave (Liz); sister, Lorraine Chambers; sisters-in-law, Winnie Dowding & Roberta Biggs; grandchildren, Matt (Maria), Mike (Khristy), Dan (Andrea), Missy (Andy), Taylor, Aaron, Tyler (Karen), Conner; great-grandchildren, Viviana, Landon, Morgan, Max, James, Lilianna, Logan, Griffin. Preceded in death by his parents; parents in-law, Elmer & Fern Lanning; brothers, Bob, Duane; sister-in-law Shirley Biggs, brothers-in-law Jerry Chambers & Verne Dowding.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8 from 6:00 to 7:00 at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street Lincoln. The funeral will be at Second Baptist Church, 525 N 58th Street, Lincoln at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9. Golf attire encouraged. Memorials to Second Baptist Church, The Food Bank of Lincoln Inc or Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach.
