Maynard Kuenning Obituary

Maynard D. "Pete" Kuenning, 70, Lincoln, died Friday (8/4/06). Born, Syracuse (9/15/35), to Oscar and Myrtle (Wiles) Kuenning. He married Lois Damme on April 12, 1959, in Cook. Veteran, Korean War. Retired U.S. Navy Reserve. Retired Soil Conservation Service. Employed 44 years with the Nebraska State Fair. Member: Vine Congregational UCC, Lincoln; Navy Fleet Reserve; lifetime, NERA; lifetime, VFW Post 5547, Syracuse; American Legion Post 360, Cook.

Survivors: wife, Lois; daughters, son-in-law, Karlyn and Steve Anderson, Pam Kuenning, all Lincoln; son, daughter-in-law, Gregg and Stephanie Kuenning, Cook; grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas and Sydney Kuenning, Tawny and Keely Anderson; sisters, brothers-in-law, Alvina Vacca, Aurora, Mo., Erma Siemers, Omaha, Myldred and Harvey Dettmer, Syracuse, Arvilla Noerrlinger, Beatrice, Betty and Glen Wallen, Unadilla; brothers, sisters-in-law, Melvin and Irene Kuenning, Syracuse, Wilber and Doris Kuenning, Imperial, Harold "Joe" Kuenning, Lincoln; brother-in-law, sister-in-law, Wes and Mary Ann Damme, Cook; nieces; nephews. Preceded in death by: parents; brothers, Warren, David; sister, Shirley; brothers-in-law, Hobert Vacca, Otto Siemers, Don Noerrlinger; sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Delores Kuenning.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Vine Congregational Church UCC, 1800 Twin Ridge Road. Interment: 2 p.m Tuesday, St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) Cemetery, Cook. Visitation: 3-8 p.m. today, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday, with family greeting friends, 6-8 p.m., Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Memorials in care of the family to be designated later. Dear Mrs. Kuenning, we are so very sorry to hear of Mr. Kuenning's passing. We will miss his smiling face at all of the girls' sporting events. You and your family are in our prayers.

Such a sad loss to all of us that knew and loved him. He touched so many people's lives in such positive ways. Positive is the only way he knew. Always ready to lend a helping hand and always there with a smile and a laugh. My deepest condolences to the famiy. Pete, we will miss you, my dear old friend.

Mr. Kuenning was always a great neighbor and friend to me and my family. He will be missed greatly by all. My condolences to Karlyn, Pam and Gregg -- I hope that they will focus on the wonderful memories of their Dad.
