Richard Curry Obituary

Richard E. Curry

August 5, 1941 - July 1, 2025

Richard E. Curry, 83, passed away on July 1, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on August 5, 1941, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Dr. John and Lois Curry.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Anne; his son John (Cinda) Curry of Lincoln, NE; his daughters, Shelly (Paul) Smith of Litchfield Park, AZ, and Natalie Timpone of Phoenix, AZ; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara.

Richard spent many years in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska. He dedicated 35 years of service to State Farm Insurance Company, working in both Lincoln, NE, and Rapid City, SD, before retiring in 2003. His career included roles as Director of Agency Training, Director of Education and Training, and agency field management in Rapid City. He was instrumental in hiring and mentoring numerous operations and agency professionals throughout his career.

Richard had a passion for life and a wide range of interests, including skiing, golf, Corvettes, international travel, and copper art. He especially cherished his time in the Black Hills of South Dakota. He and Mary Anne found great joy living in Rapid City and leading Corvette Club trips through Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Montana before settling in Arizona.

He was a wonderful husband and father, and we will miss his love.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
