March 9, 1957 - June 26, 2025
Robert Edward "Bob" Popek, 68, of Firth, Neb., passed away on June 26, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1957, in Omaha. to Edward and Maryan (Pechar) Popek.
Bob attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, before pursuing his passion for music by attending a luthier school in Minnesota for two years. After returning to Lincoln, he worked at Dietze Music for 30 years, building a reputation as one of the region's best stringed instrument repairmen. In 2006, he followed his dream of owning his own business and opened Cgsmusic, a music store and repair shop he proudly operated for 16 years before retiring in 2022.
Bob attended Hickman Presbyterian Church. He found joy in his family, music, mowing the family acreage near Princeton, Neb., and watching home movies with his loved ones.
Bob is survived by his wife, Candace; children, Jillian (Mike) Knotek, Jonathan (Stacey) Popek, and Justin (Katie) Popek; and his grandchildren, Eliza, Brody, Sebastian, Zachary, and Gabriella.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life and luncheon will be held at Hickman Presbyterian Church, on Tuesday, July 1st, at 12 p.m.
