Ruth Stephenson Obituary
November 12, 1930 - February 8, 2025
Ruth Orr Stephenson, 94, of Lincoln passed away February 8, 2025. Born November 12, 1930, in Council Bluffs, IA to William and Vera (Westerland) Orr.
Ruth retired in 1997, after 36 years as Professor of Music at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She was also a frequent featured soprano with Opera Omaha and the Lincoln Symphony. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mu Phi Epsilon – Lincoln Alumni Chapter, Morning Musical Review, Musical Art Club, P.E.O. Chapter FB, and Bookworms.
Family members include her son William (Cheryl) Stephenson, Apple Valley, MN; daughters Susan (Christopher) Holder, Los Angeles, CA and Carol Stephenson (Gary Thorn) Fuquay-Varina, NC; grandsons Stephenson and Garrison Holder, Willie Stephenson (Amanda Koehler); sister Jane Mansfield, Orange Coast, FL; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and husband Walter.

Visitation with family present from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Friday, February 14, 2025, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 'O' St.

I met Ruth when was a child on Bradfield Drive. My mother June would tell us the story of these two young families: if one family had the bread and the other had the eggs, they would all eat together. Ruth and June had a deep friendship through PEO and church. Now they are together again
