Betty Robinson Obituary

Betty Jean Robinson

August 16, 1935 - August 10, 2025

WAUSAU - Betty Jean Robinson, formerly of Racine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10th, In Wausau, Wisconsin. She was 89 years old.

She is survived by her sons Michael (Diana) Thielen, Thomas (Charlotte) Thielen, her grandchildren Arielle and Cyril, and her sister Beverly (Ray) Kossen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Constance (Robert) Wepner, Audrey Rohde, Helen (Bud) Keller and Angeline (Orville) Riege, and her brothers Cyril (Elizabeth) Rohde and Floyd (Elizabeth) Rohde.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she was born Betty Jean Rohde in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on August 16th, 1935. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and had a 32 year career as an elementary school teacher. She moved to Racine in 1961 where she met Jack Thielen. Jack and Betty were married on June 22nd, 1963 and had two sons, Mike and Tom. Many of Betty's teaching years in Racine were spent at Gilbert Knapp Elementary, where she formed life-long friendships and joined a bridge club which provided her with decades of fun conversation, elaborate desserts, and countless booby prizes.

She was a longtime member of Evangelical United Methodist church (later Faithbridge). She delighted in singing alto in the Chancel Choir, ringing the largest bells in the Handbell Choir, participating in flower delivery and visiting the sick, and she was involved in Sunday School and Bible studies for many years. Betty loved music and accompanied the YMCA Boys Choir, which both of her sons belonged to as well. Family events with her siblings almost always included the brothers and sisters singing and harmonizing together to their favorite hymns. She also greatly enjoyed many outdoor activities such as tennis, golf, biking, swimming and cross-country skiing.

Her husband Jack passed away on October 7th,1986. Betty met Arthur Robinson at church years later, and the two were married on November 28th, 1992. They had many happy years together until Art's passing in 2004.

Betty's life will be celebrated Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Faithbridge Church, 10402 Northwestern Avenue, Franksville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at 10:00 in the morning, followed by a memorial service at 11:00. Betty will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park at 12:15 in the afternoon.
