David Federico Obituary

STURTEVANT - David John Federico, 44, passed away unexpectedly at All Saints-St. Mary's Medical Center Emergency Room on Friday, April 22, 2005, as the result of a probable ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. Dave was born in Chicago, Ill. on September 30, 1960, to John Paul and Jean (nee: Roman) Federico. On October 13, 1995, in Prospect Heights, Ill., he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dale Marie Remington. After living their entire lives in Chicago, Ill., they moved to Minnesota for six years until coming to the Racine area four years ago. Catholic by faith, he graduated from St. Julianna Grade School and St. Patrick High School in Chicago, Ill. Dave also attended Quincy College. Dave was employed as a Machinist at Topper Industries. Dave enjoyed being active with the St. Luke's Medical Center - Bariatric Surgery Self-Help Group, an educational/emotional support group for pre- and post-gastric bypass patients. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, and working on cars. Above all, he loved being in the surroundings of his family and friends. He will be tragically missed! Ironically, less than 24 hours before his totally unexpected death, Dave lovingly sent a special e-mail to the new Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Surviving are his loving wife, Dale of Sturtevant; step-daughters, Dana and Dawn LaBrose of Mount Prospect, Ill.; step-son, Joe Esayena of Chicago, Ill.; mother, Jean Federico; brother, Paul Federico; sister, Jeanine (Ken) Doubek, all of Racine; sister-in-law, Eileen (Jack) McNamara of Orland Park, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Lynn (Marilyn) Berliner of Gurnee, Ill. and Fred (Leah) Remington of Prospect Heights, Ill.; many other special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including his local nieces and nephew, Kaitlyn and Richard Doubek. Dave was preceded in death by his dear father, John Paul Federico. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, on Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. In accordance with Dave's wishes, cremation will follow the services with interment at All Saints Cemetery in Kenosha. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday, April 25, 2005, from 4 until 8 p.m. and in the church on Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. A special note of thanks to the Sturtevant Police and Rescue and to the entire staff at St. Mary's Emergency Room for working so diligently to save Dave's life. God bless all of you! DRAEGER-LANGENDORF FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY 4600 County Line Road (corner of KR & Meachem Road) 552-9000

Dave will be sadly missed at the St. Luke's support group meetings. He was always willing to share his experiences with others, and was upfront about his journey. I am glad to have had the chance to have known him, and send my prayers and condolences to his family.

Dave was a great help to me and my husband, he was a great support person helping both of us through the gastric by-pass surgery. Dave always knew how to make someone smile! We will miss you Dave, and all of the chats that we had! Rest in Peace

When I think of you Dave, I can't help but smile. You shot from the hip and never minced words. That's what set you apart from others. You came into our lives to take care of our Joey and we are forever grateful for that. We will miss you big guy. Love Susie, Rex, Tony and Andy Pauling and the entire Esayena Family
