Delores Stockmon

RACINE - Delores (nee: Bronaugh) Stockmon, 76, passed this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at West Allis Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee. Delores was born December 30, 1931, the daughter of Maggie Elizabeth Bronaugh and Arthur Gonzalez Bronaugh. She married Robert Stockmon in 1952 in Racine. Delores was a Washington Park High School graduate and attended Compton Community College in California. She worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Company for several years and was formerly a member of Wayman AME Church, where she worked as a Sunday School Teacher. Delores lived in Seattle, Wash. and Los Angeles, Calif. before returning to Racine with her family. Delores, affectionately known as Dee, was a beloved mother, sister, and daughter. Her family was her treasure and she was a lifelong learner with a great love of literature. Those who loved Delores knew her as a natural leader with great self-determination and drive for success. Her strength and courage were applauded. Delores is survived by two sons, Kevin Robert Stockmon of Racine, Richard Kent Stockmon of California; and two daughters, Lisa Stockmon (Everick Brown) of New York and Judith Stockmon (Fredric T. Walls II) of Washington D.C. Grandchildren include Richard Kent Stockmon II, Harrison Miles Brown, Lauren Stockmon Brown, Zoe Stockmon Walls, and Lena Stockmon Walls; and great-grand- child, Richard Kent Stockmon III. Delores is also survived by her sisters, Jean Bronaugh, Joyce (Edward) Ayers, Joan (William) Dyess, Phyllis Hickman; and sister-in-law, Bernice Bronaugh; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. An open reception will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008, at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home in Racine from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. followed by a private Funeral service with interment at Graceland Cemetery.
