Donald Irwood "Don" Hay

KANSASVILLE - Don Hay 84, died Thursday, Dec 29, 2016 at Burlington Rehab/Care Center. He was born May 9,1932 in Racine Wisconsin to Irwood and Bodell (Stuhr) Hay. He was a 1950 graduate from Washington Park High School. He married Margaret Jane Hurlimann June 7,1953 in Racine Wisconsin. He later married Patricia Ann Kuehl May 4, 1968, in Waukegan Illinois. He served in the National Guard from 1952-1956 and was proud of his service and his country. Don was a founding member of Racine Instinctive Bowman's Society and remained a member until his death. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing, especially bowhunting. He also loved his Green Bay Packers. Working with stained glass was one of his life's passions. He was happy when he was repairing, replacing and creating church windows, lamps and many other items that are treasured today. At one time he and his wife Pat owned Hays Royal Oaks Kennels, where they raised Basset hounds and boarded many family pets. He had a love for dogs his entire life. Survivors include a sister, Barbara (Jerry) Robers, son Jon (Joy)Hay, a daughter Jillayne (Don) Tillman, and step children Lynn (Bill) Dralle and Lee Jurgens. Don is also survived by grandchildren Jake (Stacey) Hay, Jared Hay, Benjamin (Katie)Tillman, Nicole Tillman, andMatthew Tillman; Ashley, Erika, Alexa and Trevor Dralle, and Christina, Jared, Joel and Josh Jurgens. Don is also survived by great grandchildren Bearett and Gideon Tillman and Brynn Hay. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Todd and his wife Patricia. The family would like to thank the staff at Waterford Senior Living, Burlington Rehab and Care, and Dr. Bill Dralle for their care and friendship. A special thank you to loyal friend Charlie Baumeister. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
