Dorothy Wendt Obituary

RACINE - Dorothy Ann Wendt, 80, died at Lakeshore Manor on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Racine in February 3, 1927, to the late Otto and Dorothea (nee: Merz) Kruck. On June 14, 1952, she married Leslie H. Shouse. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1954. She enjoyed living in her Lake Park neighborhood for over 50 years. Dorothy worked for Mamco Corporation in Racine, but retired from American Motors in Kenosha. Generous with both her time and money, she volunteered many hours for various organizations including the Humane Society, the American Red Cross, Racine Unified School District, and the Mount Pleasant Police Department and Municipal Court. Dorothy was a member of the VFW 1391 Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Wife. She was an avid reader and a crossword fanatic. She also enjoyed cribbage and traveling with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her smile and sense of humor. Even throughout Dorothy's darkest hours, she always maintained her sense of humor. Her survivors include sisters and brother, Christine R. (Edwin) Anderson of Kenosha, E. Jane (Jerald) Ingersoll of Sullivan, and George O. (Betty) Kruck (formerly of Racine) currently residing in Genoa; niece, Sylvia A. (Thomas) Timm; and grand- nephews, Jeremiah T. Timm and Jonathan Timm, all of Sauk City. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Christine Shouse; and her good friend, Frank Fabish. A Memorial service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held in the Draeger-Langen- dorf Funeral Home on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Molly Doreza officiating. There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Saturday from 12 until 1 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to Countryside Humane Society and the American Cancer Society. Dorothy's family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Michael P. Mullane and staff as well as everyone at Lakeshore Manor for the loving treatment she received under their care.
