Ernest William Anderson
February 3, 1933 - January 31, 2025
MT. PLEASANT - Ernest William Anderson, 91, passed away on January 31, 2025, at his home in Mt. Pleasant, Wis. He was born in Sturtevant, Wis., February 3, 1933, to the late Ernest and Caroline (nee: Kilman) Anderson.
Ernie or Bill, as he was known to friends and family, was united in marriage to Annette Collins on October 8, 1955, who predeceased him in 2020. In 1956 he joined the United States Navy. Ernest was a lithographer for Western Publishing Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid bowler for over 70 years and loved to play schafkopf and cribbage. Ernie served as a deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church and in prominent leadership positions in various Masonic groups, including Racine Belle City Lodge 18, Racine Commandery, Eastern Star, Amaranth, and Scottish Rite.
Ernie is survived by his children, Ernest (aka Ron, Rachel Tomasek) Anderson, LuAnn (Steven) Hansen, Katherine (David) Ewing, Pamela Wahlen, Michael Wahlen, and Jennifer (Beth) Workman; his grandchildren, Christopher (Maria) Hansen, Nicholas (Annamarie) Hansen, Amanda (Mike) Grunewald, Matthew (Macy) Ewing, Jeffrey Ewing, and Anna (Casey) Ewing-Whitmire, Alicia (Kurt) Bohman, Benjamin Wahlen, Sarah (Ashley Plochocki) Workman, Andrew (Nathalie) Malats-Workman, Joseph (Jordan) Workman, and Mary (Trent) Workman; his great-grandchildren, Thea and Oliver Hansen, Julian Grunewald, Flynn, Paisley, and Gibson Ewing, Lincoln and Harper Bohman, Parker Workman, Grayson, Nathaniel, and Ibiabryn Rose Malats-Workman; his sisters, Ruth (Richard) Kristof and Carol (Melvin) Kugel; and many foster children. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy; three brothers, Kenneth, Charles, and Eugene; and three sisters, Jeanette, Dorothy Ekblad, and Betty Jarlsberg.
Visitation will take place at Sturino Funeral Home from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Friday, February 14, 2025, with Masonic observances at 6:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave, Racine, W.I., at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
Memorial gifts may be provided to the First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
