Eva Wolter Obituary

EVA WEBER WOLTER - 81, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Friday September 30, 2005, following a long illness. Born in Hamburg, Germany on January 20, 1924, Eva and her late husband, Willi H. Wolter, immigrated to the United States in 1952. Together they raised three children in White Plains, NY and Greenwich, CT. In 1991, she moved to upstate New York to be closer to her children. Eva was very active in her community, volunteering in her children's schools, church, working with "Tag Sales by Encore" and later working in the emergency room at Greenwich Hospital.

Eva is survived by her three children, JoAnn Wolter and her husband Steve Knudson of Hinesburg, VT, Steve Wolter and his wife DaleAnne of West Chazy, NY and Christine (Tina) Glover and her husband Carl of Jeffersonville, VT and six grandchildren, Justin, Brittany, Matthew, Katie, Willi, and Cade. She is predeceased by a seventh grandchild, Scott.

Throughout her long illness, Eva met the challenge with the same strength, courage, and determination she demonstrated throughout her life. Her optimism and sense of humor were a great comfort to all those who cared for her over the past three years. Eva's family is grateful to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh and to Hospice of the North Country for the compassionate care and support given to Eva.

Eva's family invites everyone who knew her to come celebrate her life with us at her home on Saturday, October 8th from 12 noon to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Eva's memory in care of The Foundation at CVPH Medical Center at 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, New York, 12901.

Dear Eva's Family.......

Losing one's Mother is so painful and my heart goes out to you at this very sad time. I know you have always been a close and loving family and that must be a comfort to you in your loss. I was always so pleased to receive your updates and grateful that you kept me in the loop.....our emails linked us and transcended the distance between my TWO countries. Your Mom truly was a special lady!

Now is the time to remember your Mother's strong spirit, her sense of

humour, her love and loyalty to her friends (and I was privileged to become one), and her great sense of fun. We shared some memorable times.....I remember one night when Beth, Eva, my Mother and I shared an apartment in New York when we were on MAJ business. I don't think I've ever laughed so much! I remember,on my visits from Hawaii, sitting around Beth's kitchen table, or in the "bubble-room",

in Daffodil Lane, enjoying the moment and catching up when Eva would pop in.

I am sending you love.......with lovely memories of your darling Mother.

Dear Omi:

I loved being your adopted God-daughter! Every year when I hang the Christmas Stockings that you needlepointed for John and I as a wedding present I will think of you. You always had a way to make Christmas so magical!
