Frederick Culbert Obituary

UNION GROVE - Frederick J. Culbert, 68, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. He was born September 17, 1941, in Emsworth, Pa., to the late Frederick J. and Jean (nee: Gray) Culbert. Fred spent his early life and received his education in Pennsylvania. He attended Virginia Polytechnical Institute, where he received his BS in Mathematics, as well as the University of Minnesota Veterinary School. On January 17, 1981, in Racine, Fred was united in marriage to Sandra M. Sheahan. They have been residents of Union Grove for the past 29 years. Fred was a partner in Bristol Veterinary Service, working as a large animal veterinarian. He was a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Milwaukee Area Woodturners, the Wisconsin Woodturners, and the American Association of Woodturners. Fred enjoyed gardening and woodworking, traveling, and learning new languages. Most of all, Fred loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy Sheahan; their children, James Culbert of Deep River, Iowa, Michael Culbert of Milwaukee, Thomas (Heather) Culbert of South Milwaukee, William Shenkenberg of Kansasville, Amy Shenkenberg of Milwaukee, and Michael (Lori) Shenkenberg of Kansasville; grandchildren, Paige Culbert, Kalyn Culbert, Max Shenkenberg, Lucas Shenkenberg, Jack Shenkenberg, Owen Shenkenberg, and Ryan Shenkenberg; siblings, Linda Brinzer of Pennsylvania and Paula (Lance) Gordon of Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Bill (Pam) Sheahan and Ray Brook; and by sister- in-law, Marilynn Sheahan. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Cecilia Brook; and by a brother-in-law, Gene Sheahan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dover. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested. A special thank you to all of Fred's family and many friends for all their cards, visits, food, emails, love, and support over the past few weeks. You truly made our lives more enriched.
