Gladys Lydia Schroeder

Gladys Lydia Schroeder passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2025. Gladys was born on October 21, 1936 to Alfred and Irma (nee Delikat) Buse in Franklin WI. She found her true love, Bob Schroeder after meeting on a blind date setup by friends, and they married on November 30, 1968. They were happily married for 46 years.

Gladys had always aspired to be a nurse and received her diploma from the Milwaukee County School of Nursing. Gladys had many roles including the Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and as a Supervisor and was proud of the care she provided. Later, she worked with Bob at his accounting practice out of their home in Raymond for 23 years.

In her retirement, she always kept busy, volunteering at the Milwaukee County Zoo, Summerfest, and with the RacineCounty Sheriff's Department for which she received recognition as an outstanding volunteer after 13 years of service.

Bob and Gladys traveled extensively across the US and Europeand spent their winters in Sun City, AZ. Gladys loved to play cards, particularly Sheepshead and loved the water, including swimming and water zumba. No matter where she went or who she was with, Gladys enjoyed connecting with people, chattingand sharing stories. Bob and Gladys were also avid Brewers fans and had season tickets for many years.

Gladys is survived by her two daughters/son-in-laws: Joni (Pete)Thoresen and Jenny (Colin) Fraser and four grandchildren: Greta and Lucy Thoresen and Madeline and Clara Fraser.

Visitation will be held at St John's Ev Lutheran Church (10302 S 27th St, Oak Creek) from 9:30-11:30 AM followed by the funeral service. Interment to follow the service at Westlawn Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A luncheon will be served at St John's Church thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St John's Ev Lutheran Church or The Salvation Army.
