I am George's sister Irene Skupniewicz Smith. My memories of Mena are that after she stopped working for our mom and dad on Kentucky street, Mena stayed in our lives. She came to the door on Christmas eve, carrying carefully wrapped gifts for our children Olivia and Monica. One I remember well was a tiny furniture set, made of wood: tables, chairs and a dining room hutch. The legs had beveled feet! The girls played with them and we kept these for years, I still have one.
She made sweaters!
I wrote to Mena over the years, cards and a couple of letters.
Mena gave to our family so much, she was jovial and caring.

As you remember, Mina took care of my mother Wanda (and Ray Skupniewicz) for many years. She was one of the first of many home care givers for them. Coincidentally, she was in the same nursing home with mom and dad for the last months of her life. Even there, she visited them regualarly and reminded me of good stories of her times with mom and dad.
She was truely a good sole.

To our Brother Rob,
This candle is for the light I see in your eyes when you talk about your mom. We will miss her feisty ways as she saves you from being thrown into the pool. Peace to you, Sandy and your family in the many days to come.
Love your Brother and Sister

Uncle Rob, Aunt Sandy & family, our hearts go out to all of you during this time of sorrow. I am sorry to hear that Mina passed away! It's a relief to know that she is in a better place & out of discomfort. I will always remember the few times that I spent with Mina. If there's anything that I can do for you during this time, please let me know. I'm sorry that I can't be there for you physically, but please know that I am there for you emotionally! I love you all so very much!
Love, Crystal, Daelyn & Jeff Estrada
