James Morrill Obituary

James T. "Tom" Morrill

June 11, 1946 - September 15, 2025

RACINE - James Thomas Morrill "Tom", a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at the age of 79, in Racine, Wisc., following a battle with illness. Born on June 11, 1946, in Ottumwa, Iowa, James was the son of James and Edith Morrill.

Tom was a dedicated family man, celebrating 59 years of marriage to his wife, Karen. They were married in 1966 in their hometown of Waverly, Iowa. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Robin (Adam) Greco, Brooke (Eric) Haney, and Pat (Samantha Gustin) Morrill. His legacy continues through his eight cherished grandchildren, August and Fisher Morrill, Olivia and Holly Solfest, Blythe, Paige, Chloe, and Brighton Haney, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Tom graduated from Waverly Shell Rock High School in Waverly, Iowa in 1964. He then attended college for one year before serving in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He was stationed at the 5th Army headquarters at Fort Sheridan.

After his military service, Tom attended one year at Gateway Technical College before beginning his career at S.C. Johnson for the next 38 years, where he was known as "JimTom".

Tom was known for his dry and witty sense of humor, always ready with a clever quip to lighten the mood. He was also an avid supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed sports and activities, including tennis, bowling, baseball, volleyball, archery, and target shooting at the gun range. One of his favorite traditions was the annual fishing trip to Canada with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and James Morrill; and his siblings, Ted, Terry, Tim, Toby, and sister, Tina.

Tom always loved being with his kids and grandkids, and will be fondly remembered and missed. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild.

Private services were held to celebrate Tom's life.
