James Strasser Obituary

James E. Strasser

August 25, 1938 - September 20, 2025

Sturtevant - With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our father, James E. Strasser, who passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025.

Son of John and Loretta Strasser of Stratford, Wis., James was one of 16 brothers and sisters. He married his best girl, Carol (nee: Butalla) Strasser and they moved to Sturtevant, Wis. Their favorite vacations were the trips up north to visit family and friends! When asked, he considered himself an "Outdoor Man." He was most content managing a stellar garden, finding the best fishing hole and chopping up trees to get ready for winter! A devoted member of St. Sebastian Church, James volunteered weekly during mass, sharing his deep faith with friends and neighbors. He worked at J.I. Case and American Motors for a few years after moving to the area from Stratford. He ultimately found his workplace at Modern Building Materials in Kenosha. He retired after 35 years of loyalty and hard work! James was fondly nicknamed "Jimmy Polka" from his friends and favorite dance partner when attending Polka Sundays.

Surviving are his children, Dennis (Kathleen) Strasser, Steven Strasser, Peggy (Robert) Johnson and Allan (Naomi) Strasser; grandchildren, Christine (Rick) Civinelli, Katie Schreiner (Brad Sween), Matthew Strasser (his mother, Tracey Williams) and Chailyn Strasser; great-grandchildren, Jack Civinelli, Presley Stenstrom, Evelyn and Amber Sween; brothers and sisters; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Carol; parents, John and Loretta; and grandson, Robert Johnson, Jr.

We are thankful for all the Specialists, Doctors, Nurses and Hospice staff at the Advocate Aurora Health Facilities that helped Dad throughout his journey. A huge thank you to all friends and family that helped us keep him home for as long as possible – that truly was the greatest gift! We will forever be grateful!

As James was a faithful member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant for over 50 years, his wishes were for relatives and friends to meet with family to remember James on Saturday, October 11, 2025 before the 4:30 p.m. Mass at St. Sebastian. Private inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park.
