John Hessenthaler Obituary

John Richard Hessenthaler

May 17, 1941 - May 13, 2024

John Richard Hessenthaler, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Monday May 13, 2024. John was born in Davis, IL on May 17, 1941, son of the late John and Pearl (nee: Tilkemeier) Hessenthaler.

He graduated from Dakota High School and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from UW-Platteville. On July 22, 1966, John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phylis Avon Lindstrom. They raised two children, Jonathan and Jodi, and shared nearly fifty-eight wonderful years together. John was employed with the Town of Mt. Pleasant as the building inspector for over twenty years before he retired. John was a member of Grace Church on Hy 31, where he loved serving as an usher. When he wasn't working John really enjoyed his time spent up north at his cabin fishing, doing puzzles and sharing quality time with his family.

John will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Phylis; son, Jonathan Hessenthaler; daughter, Jodi Hessenthaler; brother, Darrell (Barbara) Hessenthaler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of John's Life Service will be held at Grace Church, 3626 Hwy 31, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. memorials to Grace Church-Bolivia "To the least of these" Project have been suggested.
