Mary Jane "Dolly" Scott

November 25, 1925 - October 6, 2025

Racine- Mary Jane "Dolly" Scott, 99, passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, October 6, 2025.

Mary Jane was born November 25, 1925, to Charles and Delphine (nee: Cartier) Mercier. She attended grade school and high school in Rice Lake. In her third year of high school, she met Vern "Dutch" Cipra. They married on October 21,1946 and from this union they had two daughters Judith and Susan. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1981. Mary Jane was employed for over 30 years at Mamco. She was a hospice facilitator for many years and was a member of grief cycle. Mary Jane was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She served there as a Eucharistic Minister and greeter. Mary Jane volunteered for the festival every year and served fish fries during Lent. After many years as a widow Mary Jane met Robert Scott and they married on June 21, 1986. Mary Jane and Bob spent their winters in Florida and summers enjoying the cottage in Door County. Bob preceded Mary Jane in death on October 22, 2009.

Mary Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jeff DeGroot; step children, Randy (Kathy) Scott and Sandra (Jim) Olson; grandchildren, Brent Ekman, Kelly Highman, Danielle (Don) Mau and Stephanie (Luke) Kline; great-grandchildren, Payten and Maddex Highman, Alex Mau, Aidan, Benjamin and Nora Kline; step grandchildren, Mari, Eric, Kelly, Amy, Heidi, Brandi, Sarah, Aaron and Elizabeth; many step-great-grandchildren; sister, Marian VanHelden and brother, Chuck (Peggy) Mercier. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Ann "aka Judles" Ekman; great grandson, Caden Highman; brothers, Wayne, Wallace, Morris and Vern and sisters, Irene, Elaine, Jeanette, Lucille, Doris and Donna.

Visitation for Mary Jane will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Purath-Strand Funeral Home, 3915 Douglas Avenue. There will also be a short visitation on Wednesday, October 15 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on Hwy.32 immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Tunnel to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306 or St. Rita Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family would like to thank Mary Jane's neighbors Dennis and Jennifer for their friendship, love and unwavering support over the years, Compassus hospice especially Madison and Vesna for their loving care and her special friends at St. Rita "you know who you are".
