Robert Vernon Clauer
Dec. 18, 1930 - Mar. 14, 2024
RACINE - Robert V. Clauer, 93, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after a brief illness.
He was born in Milwaukee County on December 18, 1930 to the late Elmer L. and Alma A. (nee: Ehleiter) Clauer.
In 1951, Bob enlisted in the United States National Guard. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. On June 26, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Lois Andersen. He was employed at Lee's Hardware from 1951 until 1974. Bob was the owner of A&A Door Lock services for 25 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church from 1954 to 2001, and was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, and the Racine Church Men's Club. Bob was a current member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Kenosha.
He is survived by his daughters: Connie (David) Jones and Julie (Hans) Richter; granddaughters: Rachel, Lauren, Claire Christine and great-granddaughter, Eden Alma. He is further survived by other relatives, and friends; cousins: Jean Ehleiter-Drefahl and Lois Lesser; nieces and nephew: Pam, Sue and Jerry; dear friends: John and Elyse Adams and Steve Thoennes.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Lois in 2006.
He continued to be fiercely independent, driving and living alone up until October 2023. As a good listener with a great sense of dry humor, he lived an interesting, long and rich though simple life. He enjoyed sharing his many talents with others in many ways, among them, volunteering in various capacities. His faith was unquestionable and he was secure and comfortable with his mortality.
Funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2026 22nd Ave., Kenosha, WI 53140, on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. There will be a visitation at the church from 10:30 until time of service. He will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park.
Much appreciation to Ascension All Saints Hospital Acute Care, ICU and surgical team for their skilled and compassionate care.
Memorials to Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Endowment Fund have been suggested.
