BIDDEFORD - Edwin H. Zakian, 90, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Feb. 21, at Southern Maine Health Care.
Following Harper Lee is Edwin Harry Zakian, 90 years old, born in New York City on Aug. 25, 1925, to Michael S. and Ellen (Khachadourian) Zakian.
He died among those he loved and those who loved him, a beloved husband and a devoted father.
Among other things, he was a sculptor, a philosopher, a soldier, a chef, a collegiate, a business owner, a lover of music and art, a survivor of cancer and strife, a player of chess, a failed corporate businessman (possibly the best testament to his value as a person), and a friend who always knew what to say, because he made every word count.
He'll be missed, but he will NOT be forgotten. The world is bitter now, but his grip wouldn't go until the very end.
He is survived by: His wife Stella (Arakelian) Zakian of Biddeford; a son, Maxim E. Zakian of Biddeford; two nephews; and cousins.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 25, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford.
A funeral service will be held at noon in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Demetrios Cemetery.
