Philip Hill Obituary
BIDDEFORD - Philip E. Hill of Biddeford, Maine, passed away Saturday, July 1 at Evergreen Manor in Saco.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1931 in Biddeford, son of Norman and Sadie Hill. Phil was predeceased by his two brothers, Ken and Richard.
He was educated in Biddeford schools, graduating from Biddeford High School. He worked at Biddeford Box Co., Saco Tanning, and West-Point Pepperell Mfg. In 1973, he married Jeanette Mondor of Biddeford. Together, they enjoyed dancing and attending the many sporting and family events of Jeanette's grandchildren. They enjoyed life together until Jeanette's passing in 2002.
Phil was an avid and accomplished outdoorsman who truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He spent many hours educating himself on ways to improve his skills, and was rewarded with many trophy game and fish.
Phil was a loyal fan of Biddeford High School football, and attended nearly all home games, as well as several away games. Phil loved to shop for "bargains" in local thrift stores, and had several unique collections. Phil will be remembered as a gentle, simple man who was liked by all who met him.
He is survived by stepdaughter Doris Haskell, and her husband John of Saco; stepdaughter Rachel Mondor, of Saco; eldest grandchild Donald Mondor, and his wife Cathy of Nashua, New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Jean Hill of Wells; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is also predeceased by stepsons Richard and Norman Mondor, and stepdaughter Doris Mondor. In his final days, Phil developed a special bond with his great granddaughter Rebecca Mondor, who transported him to medical procedures, appointments, and errands.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements by Hope Memorial Chapel.
