At the Joe Mooney Traditional Music Week in Drumshanbo Co. Leitrim, just one week ago, I met dancers and musicians who knew Alan Beale and we remembered him while we had a drink in the sunshine outside Berry´s pub on the Main Street. As we went inside, the leader of a junior mixed-instrument class asked if 4 of us could dance a half-set just to show the students that their music could be enjoyed in dance. Alan´s voice and encouragement ran through my mind as we cleared a space and danced 3 figures of The Plain Set.
In memory of Alan Beale RIP.

So sad about Alan. I was a relatively new member of the writing class and Alan was always encouraging. I enjoyed his presence and listening to what he wrote. Such a kind and intelligent man. What a loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Just heard about this here in London, England. I used to attend Set Dancing with Alan many years ago in Chicago.
So sorry for your loss. He will be remembered by many.

Just this evening here in Dublin Ireland I heard the sad news of the death of Alan Beale and poorer are we for the loss of such a talented gentleman. Alan welcomed me to the IAHC Chicago IL in 2016 and without hesitation invited me to partake in the set dancing class that Tuesday evening. A man of wit and foresight Alan was a born instructor and taught me and many others to surpasses our best expectations in set dancing. Alan had the sterling quality of natural rhythm and it is sad to think that no more shall we hear his beautiful céili batter ring out from the floor of the IAHC. Alan you will be remembered. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. On Gods right hand side will his soul be at rest.

I worked with Alan at GE, and played hockey with him as well. He was good to work with and fun to play with.

Al worked at General Electric Medical Systems here in the Milwaukee area. He made contributions to our products (Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems) that improved how medicine is practiced globally. His work directly improved health outcomes for millions of people. Everyone he worked with enjoyed his refreshing insights, his sense of humor, and his work ethic. He was a friend to all. We shared many good times: canoeing on the Wisconsin River, attending Green Bay Packers games, and enjoying a beer on Fridays after work. Al was also a fine defense-man on the GE men's hockey team; fearless against all foes which included players from the Milwaukee Admirals and the NCAA.

My deepest condolences to Alan's family. I met Alan several times through the Irish dancing... I'd be up on stage with my fiddle and I'd look down the floor to watch and enjoy his great dancing. I always enjoyed meeting him, and really loved the occasions when we shared more than a passing hello.
He'll be remembered.
Peace.

I had the honor to meet Alan in my year working in Chicago in 1998. I remember being quickly impressed by his very sharp mind and dry sense of humor. He also struck me as ambitious and good-natured. And being fresh out of college, as someone I could learn from. Was always hoping we'd cross paths again. My deep condolences to all who knew him and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Mr. and Mrs. Beale, Barbara, Christina, Adrian, and the entire family, I am so sorry for your loss. We refer to ourselves as brothers in our fraternity at MIT, but Alan was a true brother. I feel very lucky to have known him. May he rest in peace.
