I knew Alan in the 1930s to 1950s. When Alan was a young man, he lived on Ponca Trail in Kirkwood. I lived across the street at #14 Ponca trail.
I was a few years younger than Alan and followed his time in the U.S. Army, and his time at St. Joseph's Hospital. The years have passed since I last saw him, but I will always remember him with respect.

My Papa was one of the most gentle of persons. His smile and his love could make me feel like the most special person in the world. His kindness and enthusiasm for life and learning have been an inspiration for me throughout my whole life. I will miss his presence in my life but am joyful about his reunion with Janet. He will be in my heart always. I love you, Papa!

I worked for Dr. Holtz as his secretary/right hand person in the Medical Staff Office at St. Joseph Hospital. He was the kind of person who knew how to instill confidence in an employee. He earned my respect, but we were truly friends, as well. I lost track of him when he left St. Louis (I no longer live there either). I will always remember him as a very kind, loving, individual who was extremely bright in many aspects. He truly loved his family.
I'm sure Alan is with our Lord; Blessings and love to his family.

I only know Mr. Holtz through his son and grandchildren, but knowing them is enough evidence of how beautiful a man that he was. He has a very powerful legacy!

Some of my fondest childhood memories were spent at the Holtz's home. Dr. Holtz was a "gentleman" in the truest sense of the word - sophisticated and educated but also kind and caring. He loved his family above all else. Although he'll be missed, I have no doubt he's now happy with Janet by his side, smiling down on all of us.

Dr. Holtz has been a friend to me since I was about three years old. He was always kind, friendly, and encouraging. I looked up to him as a brilliant, capable man. But his best gifts were warmth and fun. I miss him very much.
