Alexander Reichert Obituary

Reichert, Alexander Ray Alexander R. Reichert of Altoona WI, age 83, passed away peacefully at Prairie point in Altoona on September 24th 2017. Alex was born October 12th 1933 to Alexander and Marie Reichert (Semon) in Milwaukee. He is survived by his daughter Lynn Goelzer (Daniel) of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Pastor Chris Goelzer (Heidi) of Oakfield Wi, Jason Goelzer (Jenifer) of Apple Valley Mn, and Aaron Goelzer (Jennifer) of San Antonio Tx; and six great grandchildren; siblings Elaine (Everett) Ohrmund, Joanie (Joseph) Runte, and MaryAnn (Daniel) Lutz; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Alex is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years, Audry who passed away on September 11th 2017; siblings Edward, Elsie (Dovin), Robert, Dorothy (Krull), and Kathy (Paar). Alex was born and raised in Milwaukee and worked at Oster Manufacturing where he met Audry. They married on June 30th 1962. He also worked at Larsen & Co until he opened his own business, Reichert Sales & Service (Factory authorized Sales & Service for Thor power tools). Alex enjoyed and helped care for a family owned resort in Rhinelander. He also enjoyed his cottage with Audry on Wallace Lake in West Bend. He loved making, painting, and selling crafts with Audry, and he had the abilities to fix virtually anything. Alex and Audry moved to Eau Claire in 1997 to be near their daughter and grandchildren. They made many new dear friends in Eau Claire and at St Mark. Alex was very proud of his grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In 2011, Audry moved to Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire, where Alex visited her daily to snuggle, kiss her, and helped to feed her, usually homemade cookies or banana bread he had made. Even with declining health issues himself, he visited and talked to her daily and was her connection to this world for almost six years. Their love for each other was only surpassed by their love for Jesus Christ, and their truly strong belief they were forgiven, and would be together again in heaven. Alex's journey on this earth ended only 13 days after Audry's. The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to all the staff at Mayo Hospice and Azura Memory Care who helped to care for Alex and Audry over the years. Memorials may be given to the Alex and Audry Reichert memorial fund at St Mark. Funeral service will take place at 11 am on Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 3307 State Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Pastor Herb Prahl officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of service. Committal service will take place at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53005. I so enjoyed Alex and his wonderful sense of humor. I am forever grateful for the many kindnesses which he showed to my daughter and her husband, and how much he loved their girls.

I met Alex about 20 years ago at the bank I use to work for. There was something about Alex that was very special and we connected right away. When his wife Audry moved to a memory care unit, Alex and I became closer friends. I will never forget our conversations we had his jokes and his advise he gave me weather I wanted it or not. I have so many wonderful memories that will last me a life time. Thank you for the great friendship. I will miss you dearly. Love, Bonnie
