Anthony D'Acquisto Obituary

Anthony J. "Tony" D'Acquisto

Just shy of his 90th birthday, Tony was called home into his Eternal Peace in Heaven on Friday, January 29, 2021. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife Theresa "Terry" (Nee Carr) D'Acquisto, his daughters, Sandy (Larry) LoCoco and Gina (Jason) Pokorny, his grandchildren Andrew, Kathleen, Michael, Matthew, Sam, and Maggie. He is further survived by many other relatives and special friends.

Tony was predeceased by his first wife Kathleen A., his son, Anthony Jr., his parents Dominic and Dorotea, and his brothers Joe, Tomasi (Elsie), Richard (Carolyn), John (Mary), and Thomas (Grace).

A special thank you to Tony's caregivers LaTonja Davis and Iesha Johnson.

Tony grew up in the Third Ward of Milwaukee and moved later to the Wauwatosa area. He attended St.Rita's grade school (class of 1946). He proudly attended Lincoln High School (class of 1950) where he played football and was known for his tenacious and aggressive style.

Tony was the proud owner of the original Fruit Boat and Tropic Banana Company for over 50 years. His days were long without regard to the clock. He always strived to meet his customer's needs and his customers knew he would not let them down. He often would be a backup for other venders that couldn't meet their customer's needs. His reputation was one of dependability and honesty.

Tony enjoyed traveling, talking about the "Good Old Days" from the East side, brewing up a barrel of good wine and relaxing in the back yard with a little libation and stimulating conversation with the neighbors. He was a diehard and lifelong Packer fan and enjoyed watching sports.

Tony will be greatly missed and remembered for his generosity, kindness, compassion and his zest for life, which he lived to the fullest.

I just found this online. I used to do a lot of business with Tony back in the 1980s. My wife and I would stop by sometime and visit after we moved away. Here's an all-around good guy. Rick Wehler I miss him

I took a trip down memory lane today, and was thinking about Tony and found he´s gone on ahead on his journey. My condolences to his family and friends. I worked with Tony at Tropic Banana in the early 80´s and have so many great memories of the guy. These photos are gold. Tony was so good to me and I looked up to him so much. I am so sorry to hear about Tony`s passing. I worked at the Fruit Boat on the Milwaukee River back in the late 1960`s for him and Tom and Elsie!! Was my first job and have never forgotten those days!! My older Brother worked there as well. I stopped by Tropic Banana a few years ago with my Granddaughter and he still remembered me!!! He showed me the old pictures he had of the Fruit Boat. Wonderful memories...

My condolences to the D'Aquisto family. I fondly remember "the old days" with Tony being in a lot of them in the early eighties. I was always amazed at how Tony was always the first one to Tropic in the morning and the last one to lock up at night. I remember Tony was tough, but loving and taught me a lot about the fruit business.
My condolences also go out to Jim Kirchen. Jim, I know you were like a son to Tony and he was like a father to you. I watched you work for 40 years at Tropic. 30 or so of those years at Tony's side and the last 10 or so running Tropic and taking care of Tony and Terry. Sorry for your loss.
