I was a student at the Milwaukee Country Day School from 1960-1964. Miss Arndt (she will always be addressed that way by me) was the Head Master's gal Friday/secretary.
She always had a calming influence as to my not infrequent trips to the Head Master. Her poise, professionalism, kindness and sweetness were comforting at all times. Of course she will always be special fo that reason!
She was a wonderful supporter of the school and its merger into the University School of Milwaukee which I am sure was brutal at times.
This woman who served the United States Army during World War II was a marvel to teachers, administration and especially students at the school she served so well.
I met Miss Arndt briefly upon my return from military service in Vietnam. She thanked me for that service which I will never forget. That was a rarity in 1972, but not for Miss Arndt.
I had the very important pleasure of going to a number of her birthday party luncheons hosted by a colleague, Michael Williams. These were wonderful events that for me took place at the end of her highly productive life.
She also came to our 50th high school reunion. What a marvelous presence it was.
This lovely and important person always had good to say about people and I never saws her in a negative mood. She was not educated to be a teacher at Country Day School, but she was a marvelous and highly thoughtful teacher in her own right. She taught all of us a great deal.
I will miss her kindness and steady hand.
RIP Miss Arndt.

Audrey was my aunt. She was special to my brother and I. She always visited us in Michigan as we were growing up. As I became a young adult she came to several of the duty stations I was at. Sometimes she had old friends in neighboring towns, so we would go visiting. She treated my children special, just as she had done with me. We called her the fun aunt as she liked parties, playing games, and traveling. Two of her aunts, my great aunts Helen and Loretta, would often be her traveling buddies. As the years went on and calling became easier, I would call her a lot. I will miss those talks. I already miss her dearly. May she rest in peace.

I do want to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Audrey Arndt. She was a very caring, gracious and wonderful person and it was a joy to speak to her. My son, Sandy Ettinger graduated from USM in 1987 and always enjoyed speaking to her. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
