Gresser, Barbara K. (Nee Bohmann) Born to Eternal Life November 18, 2017, age 82. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Andrew of 58 years. Devoted mother of Robert (Traci), David (Pam) and Susan (Todd) Gresser. Loving grandmother of Sarah, Maritza, Bradley, Andrew, Alana, Peter, Benjamin and Elizabeth. Great-grandmother of Hero and Universe. Survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to Barbara's legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is also well known for her role as "Miss Barbara" on the famous children's show, Romper Room. She began her career with the Milwaukee show shortly after marrying Andrew Gresser in 1957. Many remember eagerly waiting for her to call out their name, "I see Jimmy, I see Mary..." through her magic mirror. The live show featured children learning through play and messages of how to be a good "Do Bee". Barbara often fondly recalled stories of her time as Miss Barbara and shared them openly with her friends and family. Years later, people would meet her and say how much she shaped their young lives through the show and she would just humbly smile and thank them. She left the show for her greatest role...that as a mother. She will be missed fondly as a legacy of children's television and mostly that of a beloved mom. Visitation Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 9 AM to 10:45 AM at ST. LUKE CATHOLIC CHURCH 18000 W. Greenfield Ave. Brookfield, WI with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Dear Gresser family -
My condolences on the loss of Miss Barbara. I was on Romper Room around 1959, with my cousin Tim. It was the highlight of our young lives. Miss Barbara had excellent poise and child-handling skills, to host a TV show with 4-5 year-olds every day. You all were fortunate to have such a wonderful mother and grandmother.

While I was never on the show, I watched it rather faithfully with my little sister and enjoyed it thoroughly. I do so wish that "Miss Barbara" had been my teacher; I think I grew up at least trying to model my teaching after hers. She will definitely be missed across the area of Milwaukee television and her fans of years ago.

Dear Gresser Family,

You do not know me, but I wanted to leave this note because I really do remember your mom as Miss Barbara on Romper Room. I remember her calling my name out on my birthday and I was elated and thought that she really dod see me through her magic mirror. I send my prayers and sympathy to all of you.
