Calvin, I love you. You meant the world to me. Thank you for the 2 beautiful children you have blessed me with (Aisha and Calvin/Booney). I will raise them with the love of the Lord and never let them forget, just how much you loved them. You are a blessing to me.

Love you, Gwen.

Dad, I love you. You are the baddest bass player ever. I want to play just like you and I will work hard to do that. Thank you for teaching me the things that you did on the bass. I will never forget playing with you at Union Grove at the car drag show and at Gene's Supper Club. I was proud to be with you. I will never forget the fun times we shared, the laughs and the boxing. I love you. I am going to make you proud.

Your son, Calvin Turner.

Let his bass guitar sing to your soul.
Dad give us one more bass solo
Play on and on and on
Your life deserves a grand round of applause

Remember when I was born, and I wouldn’t open my eyes til the instant you held me,
You were connected to my soul, like the root to a tree. And a bird to a wing
Remember when you always took me to the beach and lake drive
With only a bucket and pale we built sand castles but with you they touched the sky
And that’s why, when I think of peace and serenity I picture the City lights
Cause sometimes just to get away from it all we all went for a ride
We played smooth jazz on the high way at night
And in a lot of ways those simple rides helped me connect with life
And life is a battle of tug-a-war between the Lord and the World, and since I know for a fact God is love, it is virtually impossible for anything to be stronger than that
And not only does our blood match, but in fact our souls are exact
Remember the boat house and statues in mansions you always took me around
You always told me that if I do right I would be able to have one of my own
And I know that when I do I will save you a room in my home
Cause you physically may not be here, but you’re still connected to my soul

You had the ability to touch the hearts of everyone who even remotely knew you
I’m still trying to capture that glow, you always stayed true to
I am going to miss you playing my song on the bass as I sung along like

(As I look in the moonlight late and night )

I believe that was your favorite song of mine
So dad play it one more time as you receive your standing ovation
You’re the star you’re the legend
Let me and my brother carry the musical torch
Lets carry on the legacy that was given to us honestly
They say laughter is the language of the soul
I say the true language is music, cause it speaks deeper
I am so glad we got the chance to perform together on numerous occasions
When it comes to the bass, Lord knows you are the best
Remember my performance you came to at Summerfest
I have never in my life seen someone in the audience make it a interactive show
You ran back and forth in front of the stage, And all the words you probably didn’t know
However you have had to run over a few people, saying that my baby girl
And you are truly my #1 fan and after that day everyone else knows
Just like when I as born I wouldn’t open my eyes you held me in your arms
Well now Im not afraid of death cause I’ll just do it all again
I promise to keep my eyes closed until you pick me up again
Oh what I wouldn’t give to hear the sound of your voice again
All this time I thought I was grown, and you couldn’t tell me nothing
Now I wish I was that little girl who crawled in the bed on your side
And you’d rap your arms around me tight
And I would wake next to you in the morning light

Let his bass guitar sing to your soul
Dad give us one more bass solo
Play on and on and on
Your life deserves a grand round of applause

Your daughter, Aisha R. Turner

To the family, I met Calvin thru the relationship with my niece LaRita, he was a warm, generous person, fun to be around. when he came to chicago he was so excited when i took him around to see the city, he was like a kid with a new toy. he fell in love with my dog and whenever we spoke on the phone he first words were, "how is ying-yang" calvin will be missed but he is resting and well now.

Calhoon is what "we" loved to call him. A man with a heart of pure gold. We will miss you more than words can say dear cousin. We'll never forget all the great times we shared. You always kept us smiling and laughing. It makes me laugh right now thinking how you could never quite tell a joke the right way.
We love you. And to the family, turn to God he will bring you comfort.

Calvin had a smile that was just as warm and kind as he was. The thing that I remember about Calvin the most is that every time he saw you he treated it like it was the first time. He was just that glad to see you. To the family in our haevenly father's house there are many mansions if it were not so he would have told us, there is a prepared place for us. (John 14:2-3) hold on to God's Love and Peace at this time.

To The Family,
Although I have known Calvin for a short time, I feel like we've been family for years. Calvin shared of himself through his music, with the jokes he told and the stories he shared about his family. These moments are stored in my heart. My heart is heavy because I will truly miss the presence of my brother and my friend, however as always even in trails and sorrow, God is a Comforter. So may we all take comfort in knowing that Calvin is in a better place with no more illness or struggle. May God Bless and strengthen you all at this time.

Dad doing what he loved to do....

Who was he?

The tall handsome man who held me before I could walk, He with his strong hands that applauded just as I learned to talk. Why you were taken out of my world in the blink of an eye? If only I would've had the chance to say good bye. Who would've known that morning God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly . In death we do the same. No words I write can ever say how much I miss you everyday. As time goes by, the loneliness grows, how I miss you nobody knows! No one knows my sorrow, no sees me weep. The love I have for you is in my heart to keep. The things we feel so deeply are often hardest to say. I can't keep quiet anymore, so I'll tell you anyway. There is a place in my heart that no one else can feel. I love you so Daddy, and I always will. GOD makes no mistakes, you now live in memory. And I'll carry that memory with me there we won't ever part. I look forward to us reuniting one day in the heavens above. And we'll start where we left off with your silent goodbye. What was taught to me, will be taught to mine. Feel peace that your love continues on. So for now you enjoy your long waited reward. Until we meet again.
