I knew Coach Polacek through my now brother in law Anthony D'Esposito. Anthony played first man for St. Francis and I played on the Bay View High School team. Coach would be the starter at Grant Park during the summer and would announce our names and respective schools, just like a real golf tournament. That was a lot of pressure but something I will never forget. Coach also knew other members of my family that were well known in the Sporting Community and once told me I was doing a good job up holding the family name. A real privilege to know Coach Polacek.

Carl was an Baseball umpire and Basketball Referee for Faith Christian School for over 18 years that I know of. I am the Athletic Director here at Faith, and Carl was the most wonderful encourager to me personally. He was a joy to talk to, and he always was trying to make my job as easy as he could. He gave me valuable advice on many subjects, and we always had such fun conversations. I will miss him terribly. My Dad passed away exactly one year ago on this same Sunday morning that Carl did. Now I will always have two special people to think and reminisce about who really exemplified honor, committment, and excellence. I know that I have been blessed!!! Thank You , Carl, for your tremendous example.
