Carla Moore Obituary

Moore, Carla Layton On Saturday, February 16, 2008, our beloved Mother, Sister, Auntie and dear friend to so many came to the end of her journey on this earth. For 35 years, Carla missioned the rights of the disabled. With passion, understanding, love and determination, she worked to ensure they experienced life as she believed all people should. Carla was a native of Norfolk, Virginia and spent most of her life there. She moved to Wisconsin nineteen years ago where she continued her work in the vocation she loved and was so dedicated to. Along the way, she met and embraced a special group of people whom she loved and they in turn loved her, becoming her Wisconsin family. Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted son Ian, sisters Carole and Kim, brother-in-law Richard, niece Sara and her Wisconsin family, Peter, Pat "The Sisters" and countless others whose lives she touched. Carla saw the passing of her Father Jim, Mother Ellen, Sister Sharon, Brother Jim and Husband Tim. A Memorial Celebration of Carla's life will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008 from 6:00 PM until time of Service at 7:00 PM, at the BROWN DEER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (5736 West Brown Deer Road, Brown Deer). Carla's passion and commitment to disabled people combined with her no nonsense approach to life is her legacy. Carla will be greatly missed by the Milwaukee area providers of services to the disabled but her 'adopted' family will miss her most of all. An Angel has earned her wings!

My deepest sympathies are with all of you. I was greatly shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Carla's passing. She was a very influential part of my life for many years and I will continue to carry all the memories and stories she shared with me. God bless all of you.
