Casey Kanekoa Obituary

Kanekoa, Casey Hanalei Passed away on July 9, 2012, reuniting with his loving parents, Fred and Luellen, and little sister, Sandra Kanekoa-Hoopai, at the age of 50. Beloved husband of Heidi for 25 years. Devoted father to their daughter Kalei. Cherished brother to Andrew (Laurie) Kanekoa and their sons Andrew and Eric; brother-in-law to Adam (the late Sandra) Hoopai and an amazing uncle to their three children Coty, Kyle and Kahealani. Treasured nephew of Fred Pieper and Steven Makovec. "Favorite" son-in-law to Heinz and Renate Britsch. Brother-in-law to Herb (Michelle) Britsch and their daughters Amber (Gary) and Alyssa, and to Uwe (Jerri) Britsch and their children Karl and Melissa. Casey, known to some as the "Flyin' Hawaiian", will be forever remembered by many close friends here on the Mainland and family across the islands of Hawaii. Overcoming many obstacles, he held his head high and kept the sense of humor we all grew to love. He lived every moment as if it was his last and cherished every second of it. Visitation with family will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012, at the MAX A. SASS & SONS MISSION HILLS CHAPEL, from 3PM to 5PM with a eulogy service at 5PM. A celebration of life will be held afterwards for family only. A private burial service will be held at Highland Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

Casey was known as the flying Hawaiian but I will always remember him as the smiling Hawaiian...always helping everyone but rarely asking for help. A true friend and wonderful soul. We miss him every moment and feel for your families loss.

I've always thought of Casey as the definition of "a good man". A loving father and husband, hard-working and constant. We are all better for his example. My heart is broken for your families loss. I know that words are so inadequate right now, but know you have friends and family holding you in their hearts and surrounding you and Kalei with love.

I was so shocked to hear about Casey...Our thoughts go out to the entire family at such a sad time. I know that no amount of words at a time like this can ease the sorrow and pain at losing someone so dear, but know that we are thinking of you....
