I took part with Chris with about 90 cyclists in 1984 at the first Best Dam Bike tour for the local MS society. Never knowing if this bike tour was even going to take hold, we all rode ours bikes to Beaver Dam and slept on the gym floor at Weyland Academy. Chris was the shining light throughout the entire bike tour, he'd light up the gymnasium floor with jokes, helping others with bike troubles always a helping hand for others who thought they couldn't make the ride. He rode, repaired, laughed and sang with us all the way to Beaver Dam, just that kind of guy all throughout his career. I was always so proud to have rode with such a great person, he will always be a huge part of the FIRST BDBT in the country who really put his name on biking and TREK bikes all around the country. Whenever there is a BDBT there will always be a part of Chris Kegel looking over his shoulder just to see that everyone is safe and having fun, we're gonna miss you Chris.
