Clare Gramling Obituary

Passed on to her Eternal Life, sweetly, softly, surrounded by her family on Thursday morning, September 8, 2005. Clare was born in Eagle, Wisconsin on May 7, 1919, one of seven children. Together with her husband, Jim, who died in 1989, she raised eight children: Jim (Linda Velasco), Chris (Lori), Anne Blom (Eric), Steve, Jon (Heidi Pascual), Tim (Valerie), Mary Hurst (Don), Katy LeBarron (Steve).

Clare also enjoyed the love and comfort of 20 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren, all of them her "little punkies". She is also remembered by her dear sisters-in-law, Dorothy Becker and Beats Agathen, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. Clare had a wonderful circle of friends: the Supper Club, the Sewing Club, the St. Mary's Church Circle, neighbors, the Thrift Shop crew, and Jim's business friends. Clare used her Dietician's Degree from St. Theresa's College in Winona, MN to work at the old County General Hospital for many years. Mom knitted us afghans, loved to read and play cards and do the daily crossword puzzle. Above all, Mom devoted herself to our family, imparting the love, acceptance and simple joy that binds us all together tightly.

Visitation on Monday, September 12 at the Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM. Relatives and friends may join the family on Tuesday for the Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at St. Mary's Visitation Parish, Elm Grove (1260 Church Street). Committal Services to follow at St. Bruno's Cemetery, Dousman.

The family recommends in lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Ben's Community Meal Program, the Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund or Family Unity International.

My deepest sympathy to a wonderful family who took wonderful care of their mother. Your love, devotion, and commitment to caring for her and to each other was extraordinary. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Gramling family. In time, the wonderful, happier memories will ease the sadness that fill your hearts today.

Dear Gramling Kids, How we loved your parents. It was wonderful all those years seeing the deep friendship of Jim and Clare Gramling and John and Dorothy Bunce. It is a sad day indeed to see the end of those times with the passing of your dear mother. Yet your tribute to her, the "sweetly, softly, surrounded by her family" lays her to rest so elegantly, with such comfort. She died as peacefully as she lived. They can all go out for a fish fry now up in heaven, comparing stories of their children and grandchildren, and I'll bet they are delighted to be togehter.

Sharing your sorrow, and memories of an incredible, wonderful woman,

Mitzi and family
