Dan Wiedeman Obituary

Wiedeman, Dan Lester P.E., owner and President of Innovative Combustion Technologies, Inc. (aka S.T. Johnson Co.) in Oakland, California and a resident of El Cerrito passed away Monday, June 26, 2006. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, September 14, 1946. Dan moved to the Bay area 31 years ago as a Combustion Engineer with Maxon Corporation. He joined S. T. Johnson in 1985 and became controlling shareholder in 2002. He gave a presentation to the California Air Resources Board on April 6, 2004 regarding his company's co-development of an Ultra-Low NOx Burner in a Fire-Tube Boiler, which set a new milestone for low emissions for said burners. Dan's pre-college education occurred in Pewaukee grade schools and Milwaukee's Shorewood High School. He earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1972 and has held Professional Engineer status for 29 continuous years. He was initiated into the membership of Delta Upsilon Fraternity-Wisconsin Chapter in 1967. Dan served in the U.S. Army for two years. In basic training he was given a Letter of Commendation as The Outstanding Marksman for attaining the highest Rifle Marksmanship in competition with more than six hundred other trainees. After serving in Alaska he was awarded an Honorable Discharge at a SP5 rank in 1971. Dan is survived by his mother, Gladys Chidester and her husband Bob; one brother, Charles Wiedeman (wife Pat); one sister Ruth Ann Camplin (husband Fred); nephews Chris, Scott, Todd, and Matthew, nieces, Pamela and Lori; his girlfriend, Dorian Makres; and a host of great friends and business associates. He was preceded in death by his father Lester Charles Wiedeman, and nephew Darrell Duane Camplin. Traveling with friends and being at the beach or in the mountains was especially joyful to Dan but being a sports enthusiast he also enjoyed golfing, fishing, NASCAR racing, and rooting for his favorite sports teams, with the Wisconsin Badgers topping the list. He loved his family and his many friends. He was also very generous to students in need of financial assistance. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to The University of Wisconsin, Attn: Dan Wiedeman Memorial Fund, UW Foundation, U.S. Bank Lockbox 78807, Milwaukee, WI 53278 would be appreciated. There will be a Memorial Service for Dan at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield at 777 S. Barker Road on Sunday, August 13 at 2PM. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Pewaukee immediately following the Service.

To the Family and Friends of Dan:

I am so sorry to hear of the passing on of my Shorewood High School classmate. I'll always remember Dan as the handsome, intelligent and polite young man who had a smile for everyone he met.

Most of all, he showed us how to treat others with respect in any situation.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who will miss him...
