Grandad,
Completing my MBA has been a tough long ride. As you always told me, "if you want it, you better go and get it." Not knowing how to get it, I stepped out on my faith. As of June 28, 2010, I will have secured my Master's in Business Administration. One thing I can say is, through my tough times, I praised God, in my weary spirit, I seeked God, and for the date of June 28, 2010, I am praising God. You always told me to put God first and that I have done and will continue to do. My dad is excited and has pushed me to the finish line. I just need to say thank you Grandad for allowing me to see the "Best in You."
Love you always,
Lachelle

Grandaddy, I miss you a lot and I just do not have the words to explain how I feel. I have choices to make in which I am unsure of. As I continue to ask God to help me, I am more than confident he will show me the way. Nazir and I have been going to church faithfully and I know that is really making you happy. We miss you grandad and you will always be with us!!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Granddaddy!!!!
I am so happy to have had a grandfather like you in my life. I always think about how you always did the best you could with us and as long as you knew that you did your best you did not worry about anything else. I often think about your last night with us. You looked at Brelyn and told her "hey girl" that is something that I will never forget and she will never remember. I often believe that she has a lot of your ways and one of them is eating. She will try anything and she never gets full. Breonna said she will always remember us stopping by your house when I was on my way to work and dropping them off at school. Granddaddyyou have been such an enjoyment in our lives. Granddaddy I get a lot of my encouragement from just knowing YOU!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Grandaddy I have so much to say and I have so many feelings to express. The last 5 months of my life have been to me as I look at it terrible. Grandaddy as I am sure you know I went through a tough car accident and now I am having some tough times with Breonna. Granddaddy I know if it had not been for you by my side I would have never made it through . As days go by I find myself wanting to call you to get some of your wonderful advice. The family is barely hanging on but most of us try to remember your smiling face to get us by. I know it would be selfish of me to say come back but I need you so much right now. Show me the right way and lead me down the correct path. I Love you Grandaddy for always teaching me the right way and helping me understand that all people do not think alike.
I Love You!!!!!!!!

Granddaddy my on line diary to you will soon be gone. Talking to you keeps me on track. Before I do anything now in life I first ask myself "what would granddaddy say about that"? I know the on line guest book is going away soon but I will continue on with my personal guest book. Granddaddy, I know you are watching over me and the rest of the family. I would not have made it this far without you and your values. We had a great Thanksgiving, but nothing like the ones with you. I feel that I am going to officially say good bye soon. The on line guest book has helped me to stay connected with you. Granddaddy, you left such an impact on our lives that even after a year it still does not seem like you are not here physically. Granddaddy, If I have not said it before, I want to thank you for believing in us and no matter what, you always found some encouraging words to say. Granddaddy, there is none like you and there will never be. As I always use to tell you when you were going through "SEE YOU LATER" Love you!!!!!

Daddy, my precious daddy, it has been a year now since you went home in peace to be with Jesus, but daddy I still find myself saying I wish I could call daddy just to talk. Every night I come home from work I pass the cemetery and I can visualize you standing there wavying at me saying Brenda I'm alright, you don't have to worry about sticking me to hard when you take my blood sugar test anymore because it's gone, That you feel good and you are in such a joyous place. But daddy I miss you so much. I know you understand the reason why the head stone is not there yet but if it's the last thing I do it will be there before father's day of next year. I miss you so much you were my best friend as well as such a good father. So many things have changed, in our family that I know you know already, but daddy I know you watched over the kids and grandkids to get them to Atlanta, and your sons are having a wonderful change in there life that you wanted to happen before you left. Daddy Breneda has come from such a mighty long way after her rare diease, she has a Master's degree!!!!! I know you are so proud of her just like I am I could just see your big smile saying I knew they could do it, I told you all so.
I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

Grandaddy, it has been a year to the date. Time has flew by and I still find myself saying "I Have to call grandaddy". Well I am sure you know that I do call you every night before I go to bed and when I am having a bad day. I think about the values that you taught me and how to stay positive in everythng I do. I still remember like it was yesterday your last words to Brelyn. The last time I heard your voice you said "hey girl" and those words I will never forget. Thank you for making me and my family who we are today. We would have nothing without you.

Well, Grandaddy the transition has been made. Belinda and her kids are here with us in Atlanta. Still hard to believe that we are all almost back together again. Linecia is here as well and we all are doing well. Everyone has a new house which was always been your dream and we will all be together on Thanksgiving to continue your wishes. I am still working on Man hopefully he will come around soon. Lil Jerome and Wooke finally got married.
It is so much to say! It just does not seem real that you are gone. We know that you are in a better place but I guess our selfishness takes over sometime. Grandaddy, I just ask that you continue to protect and guide us. I believe that we are all struggling in some way, but with your blessings we will always live out your dreams. Grandaddy, we thank you for being so positive because know we all look for positive results. You always told us that we could do anything that we put our mind to.
WE MISS U!!!!!!!

Uncle Dave it's still hard to believe that you are no longer with us, but it is a blessing to know that you've only gone home to be with God and we now have another Angel watching over us. I could have never asked for a better man to call my uncle, you are truly missed. Love always until I see you again.

To all that are beloved of God, called to be Saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:17) To my beloved father whom God called to occupy one of his many mansions blessed are you.
Daddy I want to thank you for being such a brilliant and benevolent role model to your family, friends and those you have mentored during the time God allowed you to occupy His Earth.
Daddy most of all I want to thank you for the one most extraordinary counseling session you held with me when my life was spiraling downward. There was a many of times when you could have washed your hands with me as Pilate did before Jesus’ crucifixion "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!" (Matthew 27:24) Instead you sat uncomplainingly and listened to my struggle and said “son you are in the Fire”. You then went on to enlighten me on the steps I needed to take to find my way out of the wilderness one being: “go into the back room and begin to live again” (thank you for reserving the back room for all your prodigal sons who returned home). The other life changing instruction was “be still and wait” as I wanted to look back as Lots wife did when God was bringing them out of Sodom. Deacon Cathey, I am convinced at that time you prayed as Abraham saying "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked” (Genesis 18:23). Daddy you knew I needed to receive the Holy Spirit and the only way I could receive our God was to first come out of the streets where I was eating the bread of the wicked and drinking the wine of violence (Proverbs 5:17). I am convinced that God commanded you to prophesy over my dried bones as he did Ezekiel. God must have said to you "Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5 This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'” (Ezekiel 37:4-6) Over the course of a year I was Baptized, joined church, and studied the bible intently, which changed my life forever.
Daddy I want to also thank you for caring for me during this time of need. In the mornings when I returned from work you had breakfast for me and in the evenings when I awoke you had that pot of beans that you and I so loved to eat. Daddy I thank you for giving me my first job painting granddaddy and grandma’s house which taught me the importance of having a high-quality work ethic. Thanks for talking to your boss at Vilter where I was able to work with you and Charles this provided me with the tools I needed to go forward in my journey of life.
Daddy I also thank you for being my financial counselor where I learned the importance of buying stocks, bonds, and real-estate this wisdom will provide for my future. So daddy as you can see you bought me a mighty long way from the streets my promise to you is I will continue my upward progress on my job and I will graduate next year with my degree. But most of all I will give of myself to others as you did in the name of our Lord. Thanks so much for overlooking my short comings and guiding me into adulthood.
Your grateful son Jerome

Grandaddy, without you I feel so lost. I promised you that I will finish school and I will do so. At first, I used my son as my motivator, but now I have a better reason to finish and that is to keep my promise to you! I wanted you to be present when my big day came, but that is okay because I know that you are watching over me and your spirit will be with me! I will keep my faith on this journey! Grandaddy, Nazir and I will always miss you and love you! I know that we will see you again!
