Remember David as a member of the Spa at the Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc. He always worked up a sweat and carried a friendly smile at the gym. It has been 8 1/2 years, but I have a memory of you like it was only yesterday. Rest in peace, David.

I went to school with Dave at OHS but we didn't really know each other well during that time. I then became roommates with his brother Fred & our friend Jeff B in 1992 living in the Hideaway House on Okauchee Lake. It was at that time that I got to know Dave better & his family. We all had a very good relationship with one another. In the summer of 92' I remember hearing about their mothers cancer, which hit the family hard. I believe I stayed at the Hideaway House for about 10 months & decided to move on with my girlfriend at the time. I soon lost contact with the Schmitter family. I'd run into Jeff B & talk a little & catch up but that was about it. I think I ran into Fred once at a tavern in between the years. Then on Sun I had been watching the news & seen the reports of the accident & was shocked to hear about David's accident. The family has been through a lot of tragedies over the years & I'm sorry to hear about another passing of the Schmitter family. I wish them all well.
