Donald Heiber Obituary

Heiber, Donald Allen On Saturday, April 30, 2011, age 84, died at home, quickly and peacefully, early in the morning after a wonderfully active and beautiful day before. His life was full and rich, with a large family and many friends throughout the years. He died in the family home where he had lived for 55 years. He and his wife, Carolyn (deceased in 1998) raised seven children in this home. Don was born in Milwaukee in the Menger home with attached green houses and florist shop. He helped with the family business throughout his childhood. He was the Senior Class President of the January Graduating Class at North Division H.S. in 1945, entered the Air Force after graduation, and was sent to Germany to clean up after the war. In his teens he fell in love with his wife and they were married when he returned from his tour of duty. They were married 50 years and had seven children. They loved to travel and shared the country with their family by tent camping in the Tetons, Smokies, Ozarks, Florida, Rockies, and much of WI with one of the favorite areas being the northern Kettle Moraine. He worked for over 40 years for as a Cost Accountant at Bostrom Corp. in Milwaukee and later in life for H.O. Bostrom in Waukesha. He made many close friends over those years. He and Carolyn later spent many a winter vacation in Florida and went on cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. Don was a Scout Master and Little League Coach when his children were young. He loved sports and participated in league sports until he was in his early 50's. He was a huge Packer, Brewer, Marquette, Bucks and Badger fan. He was involved over the years in Masons, Eastern Star, Shriners and Scottish Rites. He was a Shriner clown (Shutterbug) and made many trips to the Children's Hospital, the Shriner Circus and the big 4th of July Parade to share his love of clowning and making people happy. The family is grateful for the hot lunch program at the Brookfield Senior Center and the cards, bus trips and friends he made while attending there in recent years. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Heiber (Swartwout), his parents, Carl and Hilda Heiber (Menger), his brother, Carl Heiber and many beloved cousins. He is survived by his family, Dale and Patti Heiber, children Carly and Theo; Gary and Debby Heiber, son Michael; Kate and Tom Heiber-Cobb; Deb and Tom Pease, children Karen (Preston) Wake and their children Teagan and Taylor; Nicole (Joel) White and baby Ella born in January; Sue Catalano, children Nick and Jenna, David Heiber; Becky (Al) Rolli, children Josh (fiancé Krista), Jensen, Jordyn and Jenelle. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 9th at 7 pm at the Community United Methodist Church in Elm Grove, 14700 Watertown Plank Rd. Memorials can be made to The Shriner Children's Hospital or the American Diabetes Association. Flowers should be delivered to the church.
