He was active in many sports in high school andcollege. He andhis fourteen-piece big band, "Dick Lynch and His Orchestra" played all of the major colleges and dance venues in the area. He went on to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, graduated andreceived his commission in 1946. He served in the occupation forces in Japan. After his military career, he and Barb moved to Milwaukee and Dick joined Western Industries, eventually moving into the role of Vice-President, and retiring after a forty-one year career. Dick's faith in God was central to his life. He was a daily participant at Mass and was active in many areas of church life. When not at home, at the office, or in church one could often find Dick swinging his "sticks" at the driving range or golf course. His passion for golf made him a regular at area tournaments. He set the course record at Curry Park, played in the old PGA event held in Milwaukee, the Miller Open. His other great passion was University of Iowa Athletics. From childhood he followed his beloved Hawkeyes. Dick supported his Hawks throughout his life, most recently traveling to Iowa City, with Barbara, for every Hawkeye home football game through the end of last season. Go Hawks! Dick and Barb had just returned from hosting the 30th annual Lynch family re-union at the Edgewater Resort in Ephraim, Door County. All 41 members of the family attended. Dick will be missed by all! Growing up playing sports on the playground and fields and attending classes at Cumberland School, we all knew the Lynch family. We all knew of Mr. Lynch's love for Iowa, family and dedication to country. Condolences to my friend Tom and the entire Lynch family.

I send my condolences to the entire Lynch family as their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather goes to his Reward. An Army veteran; one of the Greatest Generation -- we can never repay his service. God bless you all.

My condolences to the Lynch family. I have many fond childhood memories of Mr. Lynch - 31 flavors ice cream trips - boy could he polish off ice cream, being followed in his brown car so he was sure I rode my bike home safely or when I was older, a call to Mr. Lynch to let him know that I arrived home safely. All memories of a kind and caring man who will be dearly missed. My prayers are with you - especially Mrs. Lynch and Kelly. Bridget
