Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

Born to life September 25, 1922. Entered the fullness of Eternal Life August 13, 2015. Loving husband of Barbara (nee Bowen) for 68 years. Beloved father of Terry (Liz) Lynch, John Lynch, Tim (Mary) Lynch, Dan (Diane) Lynch, Sister Donald Maria (Kathy) Lynch, Tom (Shelly) Lynch, and Kelly (Rick) Aguayo. Special "Grampy" of Kate Koehler, Ellie Badji and Mike, Conor, Seamus, Devon, Aidan, Josh, Nate, Maggy, Chris & Danny Lynch & Tom, Cailin, the late Alfred, Kevin and Jeffrey Aguayo. Adored by great-grandchildren Emma & Brooke Koehler, the late Mary Badji, Edin Badji, Shane, Patrick, Colin and Oliver Lynch. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

Dick was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Donald and Kathryn Lynch. He had a wonderful childhood and met his sweetheart and lifelong love, Barbara, at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He was active in many sports in high school & college. He & his fourteen-piece big band, "Dick Lynch and His Orchestra" played all of the major colleges and dance venues in the area. He went on to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, graduated & received his commission in 1946. He served in the occupation forces in Japan. After his military career, he & Barb moved to Milwaukee and Dick joined Western Industries, eventually moving into the role of Vice-President, and retiring after a forty-one year career.

Dick's faith in God was central to his life. He was a daily participant at Mass and was active in many areas of church life. When not at home, at the office, or in church one could often find Dick swinging his "sticks" at the driving range or golf course. His passion for golf made him a regular at area tournaments. He set the course record at Curry Park, played in the old PGA event held in Milwaukee, the Miller Open. His other great passion was University of Iowa Athletics. From childhood he followed his beloved Hawkeyes. Dick supported his Hawks throughout his life, most recently traveling to Iowa City, with Barbara, for every Hawkeye home football game through the end of last season. Go Hawks!

Dick & Barb had just returned from hosting the 30th annual Lynch family re-union at the Edgewater Resort in Ephraim, Door County. All 41 members of the family attended.

Dick will be missed by all!

Visitation will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church, corner of N. Santa Monica and E. Not sure what to say?

Mr. Lynch was a great man. My husband Gary Neumann who passed away 2 years ago worked for him at Western Metal. Gary respect and appreciated Dick. He was a caring man. A man with respect for all. He helped my husband so much. You can be proud of your Dad.

All my sympathies to Barbara and the rest of the Lynch family at this sad time. I know Dick will be greatly missed.
Bob Koch

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

My heartfelt sympathy to you Barbara and all your family. I was employed at Western Metal for 29 years and Dick was like a father to me. God Bless. Gary & Jean Neumann

Very hard to say good bye to such a dear person - he loved his family so much and a great spokesman for the beloved Hawkeyes. We all enjoyed him so much and feel for his loss. Dr Moore and staff

I am sorry for your loss, they are very difficult time, yet bible in jonh chapter 5:28-29 give us a beautiful hope. I hope that this can bring you comfort.

We are so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Even though we are no longer at St. Monica, you two have always stood out as being so friendly to us and me at daily mass. Much peace to you
Barbara.

Growing up playing sports on the playground and fields and attending classes at Cumberland School, we all knew the Lynch family. We all knew of Mr. Lynch's love for Iowa, family and dedication to country. Condolences to my friend Tom and the entire Lynch family.

I send my condolences to the entire Lynch family as their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather goes to his Reward. An Army veteran; one of the Greatest Generation -- we can never repay his service. God bless you all.
