Pastor Thomas was a great person. He believed that I would grow to be a wonderful person, and he was one of the most perfect examples for me. He was wonderful he treated me like one of his grandchildren, and he made me feel like he was my grandfather. He was always loving, kind and nice towards me. I want to thank everyone in the family for sharing him in such a loving and unselfish manner towards me. I love and thank you all for such a honor and privilege

To the Family of Dr. E. L. Thomas,

I am so excited to still be a part of the ministry he started here at Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
This week is especally significant to me because the men of Victory launched our Pioneer Week Celebration. It began with a men's conference which was a great success. In fact, it went far beyond our expectations. God truly smiled on us.
We had a sleep over at the church for the boys 6 yrs to 12 yrs and they had a great time. Plus, the men and the boys had classess Friday night and Saturday morning.
The fellowship was good. The classes were inspiring, on point, and they were real. The instructors were profound and quite equipped to teach their lessons.
I remember a few days before we knew Dr. E. L. was sick, him sharing with me with so much enthusiasum and excitement that the Lord was sending men to Victory. And, we are seeing this prophecy come to fruition.
Thank you so much Family for sharing this Giant of a man with us. We will never be the same.

Sincerely yours,
Rev. Willie Lyons, III and Family

To The Thomas Family,

I can remember the first day that I met this wonderful family. You welcomed me into the family just like I was one of your own. It was amazing to meet a family that didn't treat me any different than they treated their biological children. I really miss Earl Lee, but I remember the great times that we shared with him. Emma, I really want to thank you for accepting me as one of your daughters. I know alot of times it seemed like I wasn't paying attention, but I was. Thank you for showing me how to be a stern, but great mother. I look up to you for that. To the girls, thanks for being great sisters. I really miss you all, but remeber that I will always love you all.

As I recall one my most memorable moments of Pastor E. L. Thomas he was preaching a sermon and he asked the congregation to say their name out loud, as I looked around most people did, and he replied “WELL I’M TALKING TO YOUUUU” (very powerful) although I was very young that night I learned that It’s not always about you! And not to be so selfish and stuck on yourself. To Mrs. Emma I just want to Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You for teaching me so much, I can’t express my gratitude on how Thankful I am too be around such a wonderful person like you.

Mom,

It's still so very hard for me to believe that dad is gone home to be with the Lord. When I come home to visit I still sit and wait for him to come through those doors and say, "Did Pam make it home?" Home...a place where I have found peace in the times of my storms. Thank you for keeping our home a home with all the reminders of how good God is and the memories of dad still alive. I've seen your strength and I listen as you continue to remind me of the promises of God. He has kept you through it all and I am eternally grateful in knowing that His word will not return void. He got you because He promised that He would never leave you nor forsake you.

I love you mom....Be Blessed

What can you say about a person who literally did it all. From preaching to publishing books, running a board in Nashville, traveling over the country to ensure that the Gospel is spread. Although I miss you I know your very much alive. There was a time when you were not, but there will never be a time when you will not be. Im grateful for the time spent and glad it wasnt wasted. P.S. I still remember what you told me!!!!!

Emma,

I never would've known that my relationship with the Lord would've been impacted SO GREATLY by the opportunities that Earl afforded me. CCS Singers, Joy Retreats, ... All blessings to me that I will cherish FOREVER! Emma, I really miss those times, and I miss "hanging out" with you! Sometimes when I'm directing and I clap my "Thomas" hands, I immediately think of him. I MISS HIM SO MUCH!!!
... But one thing I'm SURE of is I'll be with him AGAIN!

Love ya,

Terri Davis McCall

April 22, 2010

Although he was stern and demaned the best, his love for Christian education, preaching and singing I'll always remember.

It was a pleasure to have crossed paths with him in this life...my life was touched and changed by his presence.

April 22, 2010

To the Victory Missionary Baptist Church and Mrs. Emma Thomas I want to thank you and your husband for your teaching and although I dont know you personally.I can honestly say that your teachings have reached far and wide and I feel as if I know you now. To Mrs. Thomas & Family,

Dr. E.L Thomas was an extraordinary man so loved and so remembered by so many.
It's hard to believe that it's been almost 3 years.
Thank you for sharing him with us.

I would like to share a letter I wrote to him on March 1, 2007.
The sentiments remain unchanged.

March 1, 2007

Dear Dr. Thomas,

I want you to know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers on a daily basis.
Your darling daughter does a marvelous job in keeping us up to date on your progress.
I know that you are a living witness of the awesome power of prayer.
Rest assured that our request will not go unanswered.

You may never truly know of all of the lives you have affected.
As a man of God, family man, leader, teacher, mentor, and professional; we appreciate you for all that you are to us.

I would like to offer the same love and support that has been shown to me by you and your family.
I have often expressed my sincere appreciation to my dear friend Monette for everything she has given me. I could never repay her or your family.
Certain opportunities may not have presented themselves, had it not been for your consistent acts of kindness, guidance and professional advice.

Get well soon. We need you. We have not yet reached our full potential. We have much to learn.

With love and gratitude,
Michelle Barnes

...sometimez you have to close your eyes REALLY tight in order to see what's coming!...I never would have imagined that once my eyes were opened my daddy would not be there to watch me live out the rest of my days. However, because I had the type of daddy that taught me what to do & how to do it, I WILL SURVIVE! I love you daddy and I will forever more cherish our 32 years together! You were the BEST!

Ms. Emma, Thomas Family we want to Thank You for sharing Pastor with us. He was a Great Man, a Special Person. We will miss his Teaching and his Preaching. We want you to know that by your side we will be if ever you are in need.
Pastor Thomas I now know and understand that Praise, Worship and Testimony is Personal and I Thank You. I'll always remember that Sunday when we sang part of this song I Fell Like Going On. Now I can hear you singing Glory Hallelujah Your're The Reason Why I Sing.
You have completed the task at hand. You have come to the close of day. You have walked that last mile and taken that last step. There are no more classes to teach, no more lessons to be learned.
No more aches and pains. For you have done everything that he has ask of you. And you may lay your head down close your eyes and rest. And when morning comes the Gates will open and you will hear Well Done My Child Welcome home. Come Unto me for I am The Father. Harps will Play and all the Angels will sing.

May the peace of God and the memory of Dr. Thomas' work be an everlasting reminder of his service on this earth. We miss him yet we thank God who is the creator of everything good for granting us the opportunity to have known him, worked with him, and learned from him.

Dr. Thomas's legacy will definitely live on through his leadership, writings, and most of all, through the many lives that were blessed by him and those who had the opportunity to just be in his presence whether near or far.

To the Thomas family: I want to thank you for sharing your Dad with me and many others across this nation. Pastor had many hopes and dreams for the future. For the conventions both national and state, Victory as well as personal ones. Those personal ones included his own family. Of all the legacies he left you all are the most important. What he has preached, wrote and sung about is the love of God and how we can show it to others. Most of all he wanted it to be alive in his daughters.
He was such a classy person. I saw him honor people in ways they did not deserve, but he honored them anyway because he respected them in the position that they held. The position that you all hold is one of honor. Honor him by your love, respect and maturity that he has modeled so many times before you. Honor his legacy by letting your lights shine. Let the good work that he has begun in you continue so that others may see your good works and glorify God. That is what he would have wanted. He wanted to see you all grow in the Lord, go to the next level. I can truly say I love your Dad and I loved working with him. There will always be a memory of him alive in me. In my life there will always be a void. After these few weeks the tears continue to fall because I miss him dearly. They will continue to fall I am sure, but I am joyful in the LORD. I live my life differently because I had an opportunity to know him.
And to Ms. Emma the work he has accomplished would not have been so without your support. There are not many women who have made the sacrifices that you have. I thank God for you, and the example you have displayed for the wives of other ministers. You are truly a, "first Lady." Thank you again for sharing him with us.
