Edmund Steinike Obituary

Steinike, Edmund R. "Ed" July 8, 2016 at the young age of 58 years of Atlanta, GA. Loving husband of Renee (nee Riekkoff). Dear father of Kyle and Sean. Beloved son of William and Arloa. Special brother of Stan (Patty), Mary (Paul) Neumyer, Thomas, Michael, Marjie (Scott) Boese, Monica (Charles) Verfeuerth, William (Lisa) and Robert. Fond son-in-law of Jane Batt. Caring brother-in-law of Victoria Weiley, Kenneth (Rita) Riekkoff, Michael Riekkoff and Christopher Batt. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, July 14 from 3:00PM until 5:45PM. Funeral service at 6:00PM at St. Joseph Parish, 1619 Washington Street, Grafton, WI 53024. Private family committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Project Open Hand Atlanta (www.openhandatlanta.org); Women in Technology (www.mywit.org); Tech Bridge (www.techbridge.org) appreciated. The Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Coca-Cola Company, Ed was the consummate Coca-Cola leader and ambassador, a man who led with great care and competence. Without question, Ed was more than simply an IT leader. He was also a business leader whose influence touched so many aspects of the Coca-Cola system and the technology industry as a whole. Equally important, he was a dear friend, mentor, and inspiration for Coca-Cola associates around the world. We will always remember Ed for his quick wit, intellectual curiosity, self-deprecating humor and deep commitment and passion for developing his people. Ed began his tenure at the company as Chief Technology Officer in 2002, and served as Chief Development Officer and CIO of the North America business from 2004 to 2007. He rejoined the company in April 2010, after serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at ING Insurance. Prior to joining Coca-Cola, Ed worked at General Electric for 26 years, holding positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing, service, engineering and IT, including CIO for GE Energy Services and GE Medical Systems. Ed was a prominent thought leader across the IT world and was a member of various CIO associations. He also served on the boards of Morehouse School of Medicine and Sentry Insurance. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from his beloved Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ed's family and friends will miss him deeply. He enjoyed living life to the fullest. A world traveler, Ed loved experiencing new cultures, new foods, and especially karaoke. An avid outdoorsmen, Ed could always be found hiking and camping. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family at the lake. A selfless man, Ed never hesitated to help out those in need - teaching or mentoring anyone who needed it. He brought out the best in everyone and always made you feel like you were able to accomplish anything.

Dear Renee,
This is really late, just googled my high school friend to catch up on his activity and saw his obituary. He was wonderful guy, easy laugh, we took electronics class together at Cedarburg High School. I hope time has eased your families pain. Chris Stein

Dear Renee (my long lost high school friend)....,

I was so sad to hear of the loss of your beloved husband, Ed. I have fond memories of all of us laughing, dancing, and enjoying our bowling league/bowling times together. Ed always had a great smile and open arms and personality for all who were fortunate to meet him.

Many years have distanced us from staying in touch, Renee, but, those who touch us in as special a way as Ed did, will remain in our hearts forever.

I pray that you find some comfort in knowing that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Love,

Annette Engelking (Pierotti)

It is with sadness that we share in the condolences and loss of Ed to our family at Morehouse School of Medicine. Although he had only recently joined the board the impact of his presence was already being realized. We like others are left with many questions but understand that we will find our answers in the peace that lies in knowing that when present he mattered and he shared enough of himself for each of us to matter even more.
He will be missed! We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family.

I worked with Ed when he was the Executive Sponsor of the Coca-Cola Asian Forum. Ed was such a humble and approachable leader who helped our forum immensely. We were thrilled when he returned to Coca-Cola as CIO. He will be sorely missed, and I'm terribly sorry for your family's loss. Anisha Joshi
