Elwood Fitz Obituary

Fitz, Elwood A. "Fitz" Passed away peacefully May 27, 2015 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of 70 years to Jean (Nee Kuntz). Loving dad of Tommie Lou (Chuck) Bohl. Loving and adoring Papa of Julie Tavoso, David (Lisa) Bohl and Kristin (Mike) Eubank. Precious Great-Papa to Trevor, Ariana and Cody Tavoso, Holli Bohl, Elwood and baby Eubank. Dear brother of Betty Ann Kelley. Fond uncle of Jean Ann Van Fossen. Further survived and will be missed by other family and friends. Major Fitz, of the US Air Force proudly served his country during WW II. He was a survivor of the Ploesti Raid, was a Prisoner of War and was decorated with the Silver Star. He was also honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and a Purple Heart. In retirement he enjoyed owning/running the Red Mill Restaurant, fishing and playing golf with friends and family at Columbine Country Club. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Fitz will be buried privately at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Fitz always said that there were three things in life; family, friends and memories and he had them all. Rest now Papa, we will always love you.

God bless him and all the men who fought so bravely during WWII. We cannot thank them enough but we can thank them more by remembering Uncle Bud and the millions of other gentle souls who took up arms and risked their lives to defend our freedoms. Well done good and faithful servant. Now rest in he loving arms of our Lord.
