Hi I'm Eugene's great niece. Unfortunately I didn't know him, I didn't know who he was till a few months ago and only got to share one phone call with him. But hopefully I will still get to know him through Uncle Jackie who always has a story about his brother the hero. I'm deeply sorry for the loss that his family is going through. I am sure he is having a peaceful reunion with my grandmother Alease that he told me he cherished so much.

Unfortunately I never got to know him, didn't even know he existed till a few months ago and only shared one phone call but thanks to Uncle Jackie I hope to still get to know him cause every time I speak to him he is full of stories to tell of his little brother the hero. I want to let his family know how sorry I am for thier loss. If we loved him a thousand times, then we dreamed a thousand dreams. For wherever a dream embraced life... There he stood. He was that kind of father and that kind of man. He left each of us, his children, a torch to bear. A glowing light of love, family, and worship. We shall each carry our torch and proudly pass it on to our children and grandchildren, for we know it is the light of our Father at whoms feet he now sits. Thanks Dad for all you did for us and country. Don"t catch all of heavens fish before I get there, i"ll be there with ya"ll someday. In the end we realize it never seems to take as long as it should. Love you forever Pops... Joe (Robin) Robinson

My daddy was a great man in many ways. The last time I saw him alive was at Danielle's wedding in Milwaukee. While being very proud and happy for her, he still found the time to hound me about making the right decisions in my life. Well now I guess I'll be getting my life lessons from above and he'll have help from the angels and my sister Sharon. Man, I'm in trouble now! I miss you daddy and will always, always love you.

Your Daughter, Goodie

I am Jackie Robinson from Fort Bragg, California. I am his older brother. The last time I spoke to my brother Eugene was the day before he died. We had planned as soon as the weather got warmer we would go to Ohio and visit our Mother and Fathers graves. My brother and I went into the Army and served in the all black unit Seven Hundred - Sixty First Tank Batalion. I will always remember Eugene as the the hero of our family. We had fun going to school and playing football together. Then we went our separate ways. There will always be a special place in my heart for him. I love you brother.

I am Eugene's niece from California. He was the most wonderful uncle a niece could ask for. He was known to me as Uncle Mousie. Most of his relatives called him Mousie or the Mouse. As a young girl he was so hansome in his uniform he was my knight in shinning armor. I thought he was rich because he always gave me fifty-cents and a stick of gum, and not to mention how smart I thought he was.In the last few years. I was able to visit him in his home where he showed me what a good fisherman he was. We spoke often on the phone where he gave me good advice and boy did he have jokes. If you didn'tknow him you really missed out. I will miss him deeply. But his smile will forever stay in my eyes and his voice in my ears. My heart and my love go out to my Aunt Barbara and his children and my cousins.

I knew Gene well when we worked on the same floor, he at the Human Relations Commission and I at the Crime Commission, during the turbulent times of 1968 and beyond in Louisville. He was always a voice of reason, but one of great passion also. He knew the black experience in our country and wasn't going to quit until we white folks would join in doing something about it. He knew both communities had a lot of work to do. Although I lost touch with him from those times, I assume he never gave up on the struggle and never stopped trying to bring us all together. He taught me so much during those years and I am grateful to him for that. Thank you Gene, you are fondly remembered.
