Evelyn Slade Walker

Walker, Evelyn Slade (Nee Freeman) Began her Eternal Life on Wednesday September 1, 2010, at the age of 70 years. Evelyn was born July 25, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Julius E. Freeman and Jane Carter Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents. Evelyn was educated in the public schools of Lynchburg, Virginia, and graduated from Howard University, and received two Masters Degrees from Columbia University. While at Howard, she was initiated into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Also during her time at Howard, she toured Latin America with the Howard University Choir. Evelyn was the wife of the late Charles Leon Walker, who preceded her death eight years ago. From this union, they have one son, Charles Aaron Julius Walker, currently of Sydney, Australia. Evelyn leaves behind many beautiful and treasured memories to her family and friends. Devoted to her family, she leaves behind one aunt and two cousins, in addition to her own son as well and many dear friends. Visitation will be at the FUNERAL HOME on Friday, September 10, from 11AM, until the time of Funeral Services at 11:30AM. Burial will be held in Forest Hill Burial Park in Lynchburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Evelyn's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
